Can’t he appoint an acting AG when senate in recess?
He could ALSO fire Rosenstein. I honestly think he should, and he’d have plenty of cause to do so, namely the Uranium One coverup.
AND... I’m not sure the Senate would block a new AG for very long.
The threat to do so was to STOP Trump from firing Sessions.
However, once or if he does anyway, I don’t think they’d leave DOJ headless for spite. That could very well back fire politically for them.
It's my understanding that Pres. Trump could reassign Sessions laterally - say to HS - and immediatley put in someone who has already been vetted, into the job? Senate would have no say?
Fire Sessions and name Mike Pence as acting Attorney General until his replacement is confirmed. If they don’t like it the Senate can whine or confirm Trump’s choice.
