Honeypot: Was the Trump Camp's Meeting With Russian Lawyer All a Clinton Set-Up?
PJ Media ^ | OCTOBER 28, 2017 | TYLER O'NEIL

Posted on 10/30/2017 10:36:58 AM PDT by sdthree

This week's bombshell — that the DNC and the Hillary Clinton campaign financed former British spy Christopher Steele's salacious dossier allegedly connecting Donald Trump and Russia — may suggest something even more devious. The dossier was compiled by the notorious firm Fusion GPS, which also worked for Russian lawyer Natalia Veselnitskaya, the very woman who met with Donald Trump Jr. in a meeting deemed pivotal to the case for Trump-Russia "collusion."

The Fusion GPS connection raises a supremely interesting question: Did the Clinton campaign actually orchestrate the meeting between Trump campaign officials and Veselnitskaya? Is the entire Trump-Russia collusion narrative the result of a Clinton set-up?

After PJ Media's Liz Sheld suggested the idea to this reporter, it seemed increasingly plausible. Not only does the timeline work out, but Clinton attacked Trump as Putin's puppet and Clinton's connections to Russia had been powerfully reported in 2015. What better way to distract from Clinton's ties to Russia than proving "collusion" on Trump's part?

When Veselnitskaya met with Donald Trump Jr. and Paul Manafort on June 9, 2016, she pressed them on the adoption issue, part of the Russian efforts to undermine the Magnitsky Act. The act — signed by President Barack Obama in December 2012 — imposed sanctions on individuals and entities responsible for the death of Russian lawyer Sergei Magnitsky, who unearthed massive fraud within the Russian government and was imprisoned, tortured, and killed for it in 2009. Hermitage Capital Management CEO Bill Browder testified that the sanctions "personally" affect Russian President Vladimir Putin's wealth.

Putin retaliated by banning the adoption of Russian orphans by American families. Previously, Russia had allowed Americans to adopt sick Russian children, and they adopted kids suffering with HIV, Down Syndrome, and other ailments. Due to this retaliation for the Magnitsky Act, Browder testified, these sick children now languish in Russian orphanages and many will die before their 18th birthdays.

As it turns out, Veselnitskaya hired Fusion GPS to lobby the U.S. government on this very issue, one extremely pivotal to Putin's monetary interests.

In July, Browder testified that "Veselnitskaya, through Baker Hostetler, hired Glenn Simpson of the firm Fusion GPS to conduct a smear campaign against me and Sergei Magnitsky in advance of congressional hearings on the Global Magnitsky Act." This alleged smear campaign took place in 2014, two years before the presidential election. Through this business, Veselnitskaya made friends with Fusion GPS.

What Did Mueller Know? New Documents Show Clinton-Russia Scandal Dwarfs Anything on Trump's Side In April 2016, two months before Veselnitskaya's meeting with Trump campaign officials, the law firm Perkins Coie, as part of its representation of the Clinton campaign and the DNC, hired Fusion GPS for research into Trump, The Washington Post revealed this past week. In a letter to Fusion GPS, Perkins Coie general counsel Matthew Gehringer noted that his law firm revealed its role in hiring Fusion GPS in order to help keep Fusion GPS's list of clients confidential. What is the opposition research firm trying to hide?

...

To recap: Veselnitskaya hired Fusion GPS to undermine Magnitsky's reputation in 2014. The Clinton campaign and the DNC hired Fusion GPS to compile the Trump dossier in April 2016. Two months later, Donald Trump Jr. received an email inviting him to meet with Veselnitskaya ostensibly to gather opposition research on Clinton — but at the meeting Veselnitskaya tried to push the Trump campaign to oppose the Magnitsky Act.

I think we are going to come to find out that Manafort and the Podesta group were working at the behest of John Podesta and the Clinton's to cover their ties to Russia. Sessions needs to appoint a prosecutor to look into UraniumOne, Obama, Clinton, Comey and Mueller. They're the ones who colluded with Russia, not Trump

One name that hasn't come up today but might be a real person of interest is Marc Elias -- the lawyer for Perkins Coie who was working as the go-between on the Trump dossier case and who has apparently been caught lying to the media earlier this year about his involvement.

It seems obvious to me that Perkins Coie should be a target of investigation as a possible intermediary that was engaged by the Clinton campaign and/or the DNC simply to circumvent Federal campaign finance law and/or reporting requirements for foreign lobbying efforts.

When you consider how many attractive female Russian lawyers there might be (two at a stretch), and the various inter-connections, then sure, set up ... things to be used after the inevitable victory of HRC.

But it didn’t turn out that way so plan B was required.

See below my post from yesterday. I think PJ Media reads our posts here on Free Republic. That is good.

There is something we are missing and the media are missing. The Russian lawyer went to Trump Jr. supposedly having dirt on Hillary. There was no dirt and the meeting was totally legal. This meeting in all probability was the basis for the FISA warrants and wire tapping of Donald Trump and associates. The lawyer has connections to the Democrats and the Russian government. It is my belief that Comey or some other creature of the swamp sent her to meet Trump Jr. in an effort to get the FISA warrant approved.

Good thing Trump Jr was smart enough to NOT GO ALONE to meet with an attractive Russian Lawyer claiming to have HilLIARy information.

Where is McCain in all of this? He was the pigeon passing around the “dossier.”

“...It is my belief that Comey or some other creature of the swamp sent her to meet Trump Jr. in an effort to get the FISA warrant approved.”

The whole series of events at least beginning with solicitation of the “dossier” appears to have been done as a means to an end - get FISA warrants and wiretap. This meeting was an additional item - but there appears to be a larger conspiracy by the Clinton/Obama machine to find a way to keep tabs on the Trump campaign and create potential ammo to use when needed. They just never thought he would actually win and so kept their powder dry.

I had similar thoughts about Papadopoulous. Why did he keep trying to arrange meetings with Russians when he volunteered to join and help with GREEK policy. Seems like he wouldn’t take no for an answer over and over.

I’ve said we may find out Jr. set them up. Remember, he had already made arrangements to be called within a few minutes so he could leave and he did leave after 10 minutes. He might have gone just to see who was present.

There are a number of “meetings with Russians”
That have turned out to have been set up by the Obama admin or the Clinton Foundation.

Attorney-client privilege may not apply if the purpose of the representation was to commit a crime.
