Not the same state as it was in 81 when we moved here. Once my wife retires in 2 years we are heading back over the mountains to Elkins West Virginia. I never thought that WV would turn conservative, but it has and back we go. I have had enough of what what Virginia (we are in Albemarle CO) has turned into.
I’m with you. Moved to Richmond in 1994, during the good days when it was solid red. Now, it’s just like the state I left: New York.
I already have my eyes set on some states out west. Time to take my conservative income and spend in a state that better reflects my values. Virginia, sadly, no longer does
