It’s not surprising that Gillespie lost. Clinton won this state as well, but the huge swing in the legislature is very noticeable. That’s a gerrymandered body where such huge swings ought not to be possible, at least not without a huge surge in turnout for one side only.

Not only did Clinton win herself, she had a very popular (yecch) to Virginia democrats VP, Tim Kaine.

The vote last night is surprising, really, in that Democrats are whistling past the graveyard if they do not see how close the race was, even with an establishment candidate on the opposing side.
