Exactly. No way Mitch was going to spend any campaign money on Moore. He had no problem spending $30M on Moore’s opponent in the primary.
If Moore is elected, he’ll never serve. McConnell has enough votes lined up to refuse to seat him.

On what basis could McConnell not seat Moore? And could the president of the Senate, VP Mike Pence, over rule McConnell?
If he's elected, the GOP-led Senate will refuse to seat him. Bank on it.
Alabama governor will appoint Luther Strange to seat.

Parsing over age of consent laws in 1979 isn't helpful. Best thing for Moore to do is to hunker down, deny everything, and apologize for nothing.
