I had a phone in my room in 1970, which I shared with 2 sisters. It only lasted a few months before my mom called the phone company to remove it.
When the service man came by to disconnect, Mom told him it had already been disconnected, and handed him a paper back full of parts.

Now that’s a great story! In no small part because phones back then were darn near indestructible - you must have had a strong mom!
