The thought process of the GOPe (and the left) was as follows:
1) Alabama Republicans (i.e., whites) are backwards hicks right out of Deliverance.
2) These hicks vote Republican out of habit, they really don’t know why. They’re not nearly smart enough nor ‘sophisticated’ enough to carefully assess the issues, or they’d clearly vote Democrat.
3) But even in Deliverance, if some older guy made a move on their young teen girl, he would pay.
4) So let’s all make up a story about some young teen girl being hit on by their candidate.
5) Even if the story was unsubstantiated and full of holes, the hicks down there will not care, since they are too stupid to think. They’ll instantly ‘protect the girl’ (or vote Democrat, or not vote), in this case.
That is what they think of all of us in the South, and most of us overall.
REAL STORY:
1) Alabama Republicans ask a logical question: If the people calling for Moore to drop out spent $32M to keep him off the ticket in the first place, then why should we believe them this time?
2) If unsubstantiated claims coupled with a compliant media can be used to take down Republican candidates, then just how is this country supposed to function as a mulitparty state?
3) If a groups of hard-left Democrats decide they don’t like a particularly Republican candidate to win, should they be able to take him out by making up a story?
4) Will we allow this to be the future of politics in this country?
Excellent analysis. That’s the way I see it.
Having been a teenage girl myself and having two daughters I am no fan of predatory males. I find this type of behavior to be very serious and bad.
But I’m not convinced it actually happened. I genuinely don’t believe it. I don’t find the claimant or the claim to be credible.
I give the same leeway to liberals. George Takei is currently being accused of sexual assault in the current Me Too hysteria. I think he’s probably innocent. He is a homo he flirted with a homo they got drunk he tried to do it. I find the whole scenario repulsive and I wish it was illegal but I don’t think he “raped.”
Harvey Weinstein I assume is guilty. Too many consistent and believable accusers. Bill Cosby I think is guilty same reason. And Cos was a conservative favorite.
Roy Moore is perfectly innocent as far as I’m concerned. If these kinds of baseless accusations can sway elections then we live in a banana republic. Anyone can say anything.
And let’s not forget this billionaire a$$hole from San Francisco, Tom Steyer and his petition to impeach Trump. Just saw his ad on Fox, but I thought Fox had said it wasn’t going to run it?
Bill Clinton's defenders said it was "just about sex."
This included sodomy and infidelity to his wife, by the President, while being President, in the Oval Office (Oral Orifice?) itself.
So who cares about 40 years ago where nobody's privates even got exposed, there were no body fluids, and he stopped the moment she said no?
...when the accusation came from a thrice-divorced woman with financial problems, where the Washington Post has apparently been caught on tape offering money for dirt on Judge Moore, and the accuser not only worked for Dem campaigns, but had a bunch of anti-Trump stuff on their Faceberg page?
