Roy Moore sex scandal is a big win for Mitch McConnell
CNBC ^ | November 14, 2017 | by Jake Novak

In the continuing Roy Moore sexual misconduct allegations controversy, there are a lot of unknowns. But we do know one thing: Mitch McConnell can't lose.

The rest of us? Not so much.

The accusations against Moore and the nature of those allegations couldn't have come at a better time for McConnell, whose top priority is and has always been consolidating his personal power in the Senate.

Politically, this works out well for McConnell because the news broke a few weeks after Moore defeated Senator Luther Strange in the Alabama special election primary. Strange was the candidate McConnell backed in the race, and the loss was a blow to his personal political fortunes.

McConnell has handled this controversy with a keen understanding of the current tenor of the country. Note that Monday, McConnell did not simply call for Moore to step aside from the race. He used the very politically correct term for responding to sexual assault allegations these days by uttering the phrase, "I believe the women, yes."

All the following likely scenarios favor McConnell.

An if this won’t stop him from winning, there’s always a RHINO on the ledge, waiting to jump to the other side.

McConnell hasn’t won anything yet. Frankly, I’d rather a Dem win the seat than another GOPe swamp thing.

Mitch is happy he may lose another GOP Senate Seat

Of course he is. It means less work for him.

As long as the establishment Repubs still get to have their buffets, crackers and cheese and get to go golfing at Nine Rivers Country Club every Sunday, than it's all good with them.

I have already proudly voted for Judge Moore.
I agree no more money for the Republicans (uniparty)

He's posted it four times on Twitter with an aggregate total of four likes. That's just sad.

Per plan.

Remember Herman Cain?

What became of all of his “accusers” after he dropped out of the race?

These people all seem to be playing from the same hymn book. I suspect that there was a presentation given to the GOP leadership that has convinced them that Moore is in trouble without actually showing the population. I want to know why these people are so sure he is guilty.

Its hard to believe they would give up a senate seat even if they don’t like Moore.

“It is past time for some REAL IN-DEPTH studies of every democrat incumbent’s and every RINO incumbent’s PERSONAL LIVES.”

This needs to be crowd-sourced. We have Freepers in every state and every district, and there are a lot of us. What are the rumors and dark secrets of McConnell, McCain, Graham, Chuck Schumer, Nancy Pelosi, and everyone else who stands between Americans and our Constitution. How about we hit all of them with the biggest possible scandal before their next primary. Don’t do it at the last minute for the general election. Rather, hit them 4 weeks before the primary, so that we can clean out both sides of the Swamp.

I don’t believe the rumors about Moore; it looks more like a well-orchestrated smear than the truth. Even if I had doubts, my vote would be for Moore, and then let the police/Senate sort it out after we retain the seat. It disgusts me that McConnell would rather lose the seat than haveanother real conservative pushing him to keep his promises. However, we can check on the rumors about the rest of the Swamp and let light in on all their secrets.

The people of Alabama need to vote Roy Moore into office and dare Mitch and the GOPe to not seat him. Roy Moore’s win would be the biggest FU to the GOPe since Trump was elected. The GOPe used to pick our candidates with major dirty lobbyist money (outspend everyone). Now that outspending people no longer works they team with democrats and dirty tricks to do it.

I used to post here years ago under a different screen name and now back with 1st post.

If dealing with intra-party strife and power politics using the neutron-bomb of sexual harassment of young-girls is a “victory,” then the GOP is in deep trouble.

What was wrong with Sen. Strange, other than his name? He is a conservative, and strongly backed the Trump agenda. Trump backed him. Now we have teen-loving Judge Moore, who will loose the seat to a liberal. Congrats to all for getting rid of a member of the GOPe.

Thanks Bannon - the Dems new kingmaker.

Lil Mitchy likes the role of kneeling b*tch rather then having to make tough decisions. That is if he can even make a decision. Haven’t heard one yet that would benefit America.

It is past time for some REAL IN-DEPTH studies of McConnell and Sessions’ PERSONAL LIVES.

There is a really interesting story of Mitch McConnell's army days, but the records have already been cleansed. Perhaps one of his army buddies could be enticed to come out of the woodwork.

Now that the standard has been set, that allegations alone, are enough to disqualify someone from running for the Senate, October is going to be a MUCH more exciting month. I'm personally starting a private fund for accusations against Romney. I might hit a few other RINO's if I can save a bit more.

It sure will be nice, now that all we need to do is make false accusations against anyone we don't agree with!

LOL. So you guys used to tell us the time to fight is in the primary, but we have to support the rinos to block Democrats. Now it’s don’t even fight just support whoever the GOP’e tells us?
