Jeff Sessions: 'Not enough evidence' for special counsel to investigate Hillary Clinton
Guardian (UK) ^

Posted on 11/14/2017 10:10:29 AM PST by TigerClaws

Jeff Sessions on Tuesday said there was “not enough evidence” to appoint a special counsel to investigate Hillary Clinton, a day after reports surfaced that the attorney general had authorized senior prosecutors at the Department of Justice to evaluate an inquiry into the Clinton Foundation.

Testifying before the House judiciary committee, Sessions also appeared to push back on Donald Trump’s repeated insistence that the FBI should focus on investigating Clinton as opposed to potential collusion between his own presidential campaign and Russia.

If the DOJ is doing its own investigation of Uranium One they may not need a special counsel. I want to see the FBI evidence (?) that was used to get the FISA warrants too!

This guy has to go

It was snowing here this morning and I watched much of the Sessions hearing. Geeeeez that was painful.

He was incoherent, bumbling, stammering, and sometimes appeared confused. He missed every opportunity to tee off on most of the idiot Dimms and their endless repetitive, moronic, questions.

Sessions is obviously not able to clean up the mess at Justice and the FBI...he simply is not up to the task and should resign immediately.

I watched the exchange and I did not hear that.

I agree with all - it's painful to watch Sessions try and maneuver around the silly Dems posting Trump's tweets and wondering who Pocahantas is ROFL. What I thought Sessions was carefully trying to explain is that there is no evidence that he nor the (Trump) DoJ or Christopher Wray FBI can't do the investigation + prosecutions in-house. If they can then they must - do it right but it's put up or shut up time. It's nearly Thanksgiving ;)

Very well stated.

Sessions missed so many opportunities...and, restated their questions FOR them, rather than making them restate their inane questions. Unbelievable.

Not sure what FBI files are being discussed, but shortly after the Clintons took the White House in 1992, it became known that there were about a thousand raw FBI files stored in the basement - Clintons claimed that somehow they had been delivered there by mistake and of course they intended to return them to the FBI as soon as possible - meanwhile they apparently had months to go over the files and distill whatever information they needed for future reference - I can’t recall whether the files were on only Republicans, or were on a range of prominent political figures, but at the time it was hypothesized that the Clintons now had enough potentially damaging information on plenty of political names to blackmail their way into or out of any situation they wanted for years to come - with hindsight, it sure sounds accurate......

Jeff Sessions on Tuesday said there was “not enough evidence” to appoint a special counsel to investigate Hillary Clinton,

Jordan: "That's what it looks like...doesn't that warrant naming a second special counsel?"

Sessions: "Looks like" is not enough basis to appoint a special counsel.

Wonder if they found anything on Donna Brazile.

Thanks...

I go to his twitter page every day since he was hassled so much here by a few posters.

And he sends updates every day or so to your FReepmail if you had previously requested it.

Whatever happened to that FBI informant they made sign some kind of NDA that someone in the current administration nulled and so this guy was going to speak to what he knew. Does anyone remember this?? Hannity was speaking about it and others. It was only like 2 weeks ago but nothing ever came of it.

A well-picked special counsel would be far less out of control than the current corrupt Justice Department, FBI, etc.

You get evidence by investigating. What you’re supposed to have is enough probable cause to launch an investigation, which is something else entirely. Grounds for suspicion, in other words. He’s had a long legal career, and he damn well knows that distinction. Go back to Alabamy, Beauregard.

Gowdy did his job to perfection under the constitution. In fact so well a JR. Undergrad law student could have gotten a conviction. His job is to investigate and question and nothing more, nada, zilch. He brought to light in those hearings, and nightly in front of the cameras to the public he serves those crimes. In the hopes a public that was paying attention would apply pressure to its government and to the DOJ to bring charges. And who was the DOJ owned by at that time? Yup prosecution wasn’t going to happen.

In fact he brought so much forward in those hearings sleepy Jeffy could use what the whole world witnessed to bring forward a prosecution. Gowdy is not Judge Dredd where he calls forward a grand jury, indicts, tries, renders verdict, sentences, cuffs prisoner, transports, locks her up, monitors sentence. I know some here have this magical fantasy that his job is just that and then trash him when he does not do his job to perfection. However he did his job exceptionally well. It is up to Trump’s DOJ at this point as to whether this goes any further; not Gowdy

Don’t feel bad, many of us were doing the same thing.

Yeah a lot of people are still clinging to that 3D chess thingy and that Washington is here to help us.

Session and Mueller are part of the Swamp and part of the cabal that have run up trillion dollars of debt, taken the law and turned night into day, pissed upon the rights of the We the People and laughed in our faces. Oh but there are the millions that think just one more election and it will fix it.

The only chess I want to play ends in "t" and there side has a sucking sound coming from it while we take our country back.

It's been nearly a year. We should be seeing noticeable progress towards making America great again and we just ain't. Maybe there is no 8-dimensional political chess going on. Maybe Trump is simply unable to make a dent in the swamp and its legions of monsters.

Why? Because elections don't fix shiite. It is up to the We the People, the 3%, to take back our country or do what they think is right to alleviate the problem in DC. These Senators and Representatives spit in our faces every day. Instead of helping they hinder. Instead of saving our dollars they spend like college kids with mom and dad's credit card. They stand up there in the well, slapping each

NO..... WE THE PEOPLE need to get it through our thick skulls that these farce of elections are NOT GOING TO FIX SHIITE and start our own march toward Washington.
