He’s also admitted to killing a man over a ‘look’ when he was a teenager besides all the murders he’s responsible for when he was a governor. I don’t trust the government to decide who lives and who dies (or who lives and who is murdered) but a lot of people approve of him. Besides low level drug users and pushers he’s targeted his opponents both with death and threats of death. The police can kill also anyone who has offended them or who they want to steal from with impunity.
Being popular with the locals doesn’t matter much to me either. A long list of very bad leaders were popular.
He has maintained all the positive policies and achievements of the previous administrations (and they did very well).
And that shows in continued excellent economic performance.
So he isn’t hated by the business class either, however they dislike his crudities.
If the economy slows down or crashes (might, its been growing too well for too long, maybe), then Duterte will lose support.
“Hes also admitted to killing a man over a look when he was a teenager besides all the murders hes responsible for when he was a governor.”
Mindanao is a damned rough neighborhood, even by PI standards.
As Buck Owens said, “How many of you that sit and judge me, ever walked the streets of Bakersfield?”
Mindanao is even worse than Bakersfield. There are places in this world where if someone gives you a certain look, you better hit first or you won’t be around long.
