There’s a wrinkle in how the United States talks about climate change in 2017, a tension fundamental to the issue’s politics but widely ignored.
On one hand, Democrats are the party of climate change. Since the 1990s, as public belief in global warming has become strongly polarized, the Democratic Party has emerged as the advocate of more aggressive climate action.
On the other hand, the Democratic Party does not have a plan to address climate change. This is true at almost every level of the policy-making process: It does not have a consensus bill on the issue waiting in the wings; it does not have a shared vision for what that bill could look like; and it does not have a guiding slogan—like “Medicare for All”—to express how it wants to stop global warming.
Many people in the party know they want to do something about climate change, but there’s no agreement about what that something may be.
This is not for lack of trying. Democrats struggle to formulate a post-Obama climate policy because substantive political obstacles stand in their way. They have not yet identified a mechanism that will make a dent in Earth’s costly, irreversible warming while uniting the many factions of their coalition. These problems could keep the party scrambling to face the climate crisis for years to come.
The roots of this crisis go back to 2009, when Democrats held unified control of the White House and Congress. The end of the last decade was a unique moment in climate politics: Thanks to a string of intense hurricane years, and the unexpected success of Al Gore’s documentary An Inconvenient Truth, public support for addressing climate change through legislation was higher than it had ever been.

If the Left truly believed that AGW caused by the burning of fossil fuels is a threat to the Planet then they’d be demanding nuclear power NOW, specifically Thorium Molten Salt Reactors.
But no, they are too wedded to the ‘60’s Protest Movement to examine the evidence. TMSR can provide abundant power for industry, consumers, desalination, electric cars, etc.
Of course the vegetation will have to go on a CO2 diet...

Democrats do not have a plan to cool the planet. LMAO!
They also don’t have a plan to rid the world of racism, war, poverty, crime, terrorism and hatred. But they do have a very practical plan to ruin America and Western Culture in general in the long term objective of oppression and slavery at the hands of Grand Master Governments.
I am having a bit of luck, looking for a retirement place on Lake Travis in South Texas, the libs there are selling their lake houses - prices have been dropping for a year.
It’s not shocking.
They didn’t expect a serious fight. As usual, there’s the white liberal elite status quo vs no meaningful opposition.
Suddenly there’s some opposition, and they’re caught flat-footed.
I could get behind the idea of cleaning up man-made emissions but I don’t think it’s what the liberals want. They just want us to pay someone for the emissions. When someone(s) going to get rich off selling carbon credits I begin to doubt the sincerity of the plan.
With video conferencing working so well, how come any of these nitwits have to travel on a private jet to a meeting. See saving the planet isn’t hard if you use your brain.

Of course, why would they want to fight gw? They use it the way they continue to use poverty and racism. The VERY last thing they want is to ‘solve’ any of these issues.

Why would they want to address it?
Climate change is not a problem to be solved.
Climate Change is an issue to be used to achieve goals.
If you read a lot of news articles as most of us do you can see that the entire Global Warming issue exist as a tool to advance socialist goals.
Global Warming is used as a bludgeon to shut down debate on socialist issues by claiming that voices on the other side are science deniers or they do not care about everything from the environment to the plight of the poor.
The Democrats are no reason to pursue solving the Climate Change problem because it is their favorite and best tool.
Like trying to fight the Loch ness Monster without a trident.
