If I may borrow from Lewis: the Cleavers may be unconflicted but that doesnt mean those who revel in *whatever* stand in a good place to judge Mr Halfways and his daughters.
Ah, there’s the DIFFERENCE!
Thomas was accused, a he said: she said.
This guy was caught.
Defending Thomas wasn’t, or at least didn’t require, a knee jerk wagon circling.
With Democrats the wagons circle themselves. It’s like I recently postulated: with the left the standard for evidence that they will accept is inherently partisan. This when they speak to Democrat wrongdoings they may often speak of a lack of CONVICTIONS where when it comes to anyone else it’s the presence of INVESTIGATIONS. This way they up front disallow any of the sorts of evidences of wrongdoing or abuses that can be offered.
As I’ve often said: their ability to ignore abuses of power (etc) gives lie to the often common fantasy among the left that, had they been there in 1776, they would have been steadfast with the Patriots.
One of the chief traits of the Patriots was a sensitivity to the “long train of abuses” that indicated more yet to come. To those who hunger and thirst for MORE government and MORE officials scattered across the land to eat out the people’s subsistence there is no since that they would have EVER taken issue with the Crown. In fact, had they been there they may have been demanding MORE government from the distant ruler, not less, and had these transposed in time persons been as loopy progressive as they are now the King may have found cause to protest them.
