Pence is very wise to follow this rule, for the reason Billy Graham explained: to avoid even the appearance of possible misconduct, which is about not being vulnerable to innuendo and politically motivated false accusations. It has nothing to do with “gender discrimination” or Pence’s wife not trusting him.

Typical how lefties project their own issues onto normal people.

We were told to always have a third party present and leave the door open when conversing with a female.

We were told to always have a third party present and leave the door open when conversing with a female.

This statement will surely enrage the feminists out there. But you know what, they brought it upon themselves.

For their own survival, men are going to be forced to cut women out of the picture whenever they can. In this witch-hunt climate, men are going to think twice about hiring a woman to their staff when they have male candidates just as qualified. When a group of men want to go out for drinks after work, they are going to avoid telling their female co-workers about it. Why take the risk of an innocent comment or gesture being misinterpreted? What this does is take women out of the loop in the workplace. Their opportunities for bonding and networking with male colleagues will be limited - to the detriment of their upward mobility.

Is this the kind of "equality" that the feminists wanted?

I would cite a strong precedent born of institutional experience and a policy of many years in The Boy Scouts of America.

The policy is two deep leadership. One on one adult to scout meeting is prohibited. In the biannual Youth Protection Training required of all registered adult leaders, the need for two deep is soundly presented in many different circumstances. There can be neither misconduct nor accusations when adult presence is two deep.

VP Pence is following the policy in a different manner but for the same reasons.

I'm seeing now that the left abandoned these lessons and decades later are suddently relearning them at great cost.

Only because they over-reached. It certainly isn't the entrenched Republican leadership that held them accountable. Instead, Republican slimy things were using these holier-than-thou rantings to cleanse the party of those who embrace the Deplorable agenda. There's still no outrage that President Trump has been lambasted because guys say stupid stuff in private conversations. (who knew?)

It's up to Alabamans now. Do they want a Republican Senator who owes nothing to the establishment or a Dem who supports everything up to post-birth abortion?

The fox, whose kind has a history of eating chickens, thinks it is unfair that he is locked out of the hen house. The chickens, therefore, must slip out of the hen house and embrace the foxes to show they are open-minded about individual foxes. This is called ‘inclusive’ and results in fewer chickens but fatter foxes.

I’m talking Leftism in general, not just Congress.
Point of this thread: conservative Pence acts on the ancient principle of men not being “alone” with women they’re not married to, ensuring that neither acts improperly nor can be accused (for lack of contrary evidence) of impropriety; the Left is suddenly discovering the value of such a principle - something conservatives have long known.
