I guess its just more proof that you dont have to have an ounce of common sense to get elected to public office at any level of government. All candidates are pre-screened for their loyalty to The Agenda. If they have strange personal habits, that's a plus - in case they need to be reminded in the future who they really work for.
That's The Agenda' proponents are so mad that Trump used his personal fame and fortune to sneak past the gatekeepers.

No, all candidates are first screened for their ability to raise money. I participated in some campaigns in the past and can tell you raising money is the overriding thing that the state and national parties use to decide if a potential candidate is "viable" or not.
I wish people in the general public, no matter their political leanings, would understand that people run for office to get rich. The higher the office, the greater the payoff. All the other perks are secondary to getting rich.
