Still reading about this. You don't hear about this happening often. I'm surprised the margin of victory was only 5 points. I believe the Alabama team was down to three halfway in the second half.

Instead of running the layup drill, the greedy Gopher players tried to pad their stats by shooting threes.
Yes, I’m a Gopher fan.

Sounds like something straight out of the movie, “Hoosiers.”

Five against three is ridiculous.
If they couldn't field a full team on the floor
that's a forfeit. Even in high school sports where
I live. If the school can't come up with a full team
they forfeit the game.

One of the top high school soccer programs in my state won a state championship game back in the early 1980s despite playing the entire second half down two players for red cards. That’s hard enough to do in a soccer game. I couldn’t imagine playing 3-on-5 in a basketball game!

There was a small college, I think it was Spring Arbor University that didn't have very many players to start to start a game with, probably an away game.
Anyway their was one game where they slowly lost their players, I don't know how, my guess they had to many fouls and one by one they got ejected or whatever.
Eventually they got down to one player who all he could do was throw the ball at a opposing team player and hoped the ball bounced off of him and bounced back to him, hey what else can you do when your on the side lines and the referee hands you the ball and you have to do something with it.
Anyway they lost the game , I think it was in overtime, either way they did give it their best shot.

I went to tiny HS in Mich. In '59 I was a Soph, on varsity, we had NO seniors on team.
Playing Weidman, another tiny school, we had only 6 at start of game, 4 of us fouled out (I was last to foul out, at end of 3rd qtr, score tied then). Played entire 4th qtr 5 on 2, lost game by 3. Won rematch later in year, our only win of season.
One of our cheerleaders' sister was married, living with her Army hubby in Japan. She sent back a newspaper clipping, from Japanese newspaper with photo showing both coaches during a timeout....their coach with 5 guys looking at him and ours with two. And it seems journalism hasn't changed much in 58 years...the caption reversed the players' names.
'Twas the only time I ever fouled out.

The important question is: did they stand during the National anthem

When I was 17 I played in a weekend YMCA basketball league and once we had to play a game with just 4 players because we had players who were going to be out of town. We were winning at halftime but ran out of gas in 4th quarter. It was the one time in my life I lead a team in scoring.

"As crazy as it may have been how Alabama's football team was manhandled by Auburn, it's not nearly as crazy as what the Crimson Tide basketball team was forced to do. "Yup. Manhandled by Auburn.
Alabama needs a better offense....isn't this the same offence that lost to Clemson last year?
Auburn has beat two number one teams in a row, #1 Georgia last week and then #1 Alabama today. Toomers Corner must be rocking tonight.
