A very Merry 2nd Amendment Christmas!

And, as expected from USATODAY, after reporting the gun sale numbers, the hand-wringing, anti-gun editorializing begins.

Warms the American heart, doesn’t it!!!!! God Bless America!

Vastly different than this article over here:

Al Capone-era machine guns handed in during Plymouth weapons amnesty (UK)

For the record, they aren’t “Al Capone Era” - they’re World War II firearms (A Thompson M1A1, a STEN Mk V, a pair of Webley revolvers, and a Luger P08).

I’m guessing lots of AR’s in the mix. I’m also guessing lots of dem buyers too.

My theory about this is, a lot of minorities are arming themselves thinking that the police are going to be slow or hesitant to go into their neighborhoods when the “perp” or “bad actor” is reported as being a minority. They are thinking that they are going to start defending themselves. JMO.

What a fearsome arsenal to confront ISIS or dissuade abuse of rights by one’s government, oh the horror. I think the STEN gun had its action or barrel welded shut but still gave the Brit cops the shivers.

You’re point is well taken, many folks aren’t going to rely on 9-1-1 to protect them.

There's something else people have to fear about their rights. Way too many people are going along with the thought that those who have mental issues can't have guns. Do we really want the gov to decide who has mental issues?

One regulation that was overturned was that was that Social Security recipients who couldn't figure out paperwork weren't eligible for gun permits. Huh??? Etc.

What's tempting at this point is to get a gun permit, even though I won't be getting a gun. Just because. Can I do that?

“...welded shut, but still gave the Brit cops the shivers...”

Disgusting, isn’t it...

Like I said.. we have our own brand of domestic enemies who want us to be the same way.

I would wager my allowance that you are correct, my FRiend.

I would also wager that Dems be secretly warming up to obtaining CCWs, as well.

“.. Do we really want the gov to decide who has mental issues?..”

Like the Soviet Union did. Anyone who disagreed with communism MUST have had a “mental problem” and were dealt with.

And yes, we have folks here who think the same way.

I keep reading that since we voted the gun grabbing socialists out of the White House that many gun manufacturers were teetering on the brink of bankruptcy. This is good news. Since I bought a lifetime supply of modern guns prior to 11/2016 I have been blaming myself for Remington’s recent financial woes.

No guns this year, (yet) but I did take advantage of the buy one, get one free promo at Silencershop. They are offering a Sig SRD45 and a Sig SRD22x for $679.99. As I don’t currently have a .45 can this was an easy call.

A permit to purchase one or a permit to carry one? It depends on your state, I suppose. I have an acquaintance here in Iowa who does not own a handgun but got a concealed carry permit simply to sling a little karma.

You can get a concealed carry permit in Virginia without owning a gun.
There are no permits required to own one in Virginia.
Some states have much stricter laws.
I was surprised to learn that in North Carolina one must ask permission to buy a handgun.

Interesting. Just yesterday I was reading how Remington may have to file for bankruptcy and now this record gun sale check through NICS. Conflicting info unless Remington’s quality control and the products they currently make are not in line with what the public is buying.

Good.

I don't have much variety here in California, but I sold my CZ-75 SP-01 last year and I want to get it back - I'll be getting mine in time for Christmas.

Last year, the FBI official overseeing NICS was forced to transfer personnel from construction projects and units that oversee the gathering of crime statistics to keep up with the surge of requests for background checks. The office processed a record 27.5 million background checks in 2016.

Happy happy!
