Shocking news: Hollywood celebrity shows courage (Denzel Washington)

During an advanced screening of his new movie, the celebrated black actor Denzel Washington was asked by the Grio whether blacks, in particular, can "truly makes change as things are right now."

With no hesitation, Washington stated:

It starts in the home[.] ... If the father is not in the home the boy will find a father in the streets. I saw it in my generation and every generation before me, and every one since. If the streets raise you, then the judge becomes your mother and prison becomes your home.

Speaking specifically about the American prison complex to the New York Daily News, Mr. Washington repeated his assertions:

It starts with how you raise your children. If a young man doesn't have a father figure, he'll go find a father figure. So you know I can't blame the system…It's unfortunate that we make such easy work for them.

This is nothing new for the two-time Oscar-winner.  Washington made similar comments in a GQ interview in 2012.  When asked what he would say to African-American readers of GQ, Washington responded:

Take responsibility. One of the things that saddens me the most about my people is fathers that don't take care of their sons and daughters. And you can't blame that on The Man or getting frisked. Take responsibility. Look in the mirror and say, "What can I do better?" There is opportunity; you can make it. ... Keep the body in tune – it's your temple. All things in moderation. Continue to search. That's the best part of life for me – continue to try to be the best man.

Don’t put Bill Cosby in the same category as Clarence Thomas. Yes they are both black men, but the evidence of Cosby’s abuse of women was overwhelming. He had a repeated MO of drugging women and raping them. And he had paid off women to keep silent. Over 60 women accused him. Were all 60 llegit? I don’t know. But enough of the complaints were. He is a pervert. He got away with it for years.

What did Anita Hill, a shill for the Left accuse Thomas of doing? Even if it were true, which there is no evidence for, it is mighty tame compared to the acts of a serial drugger and rapist. I used to love and respect Bill Cosby. No more.

Great scene. And for obvious reasons (for those who have seen it) one of those movies that lingers long after the final credits. Definitely got chills from it.

Washington brought an incredibly dignity to that role. Not sure who else could have pulled it off that well. Probably Daniel Day-Lewis, and that's about it.

I’d also recommend “Glory”. His character is very dislikable for most of the movie, but he’s fantastic anyway. The (true) story is great, and Morgan Freeman was incredible as well.

Sorry, BUT we weren’t talking about his abuse of women. We were talking about fatherless families, or, Denzel was. All I pointed out was Bill Cosby came out first pointing that out. And was totally dissed. I didn’t intend to compare him to Clarence Thomas - no way.

I liked him in The Equalizer “ I’d like to buy Alina’s freedom here is $9800. followed by “you should have taken the money.”

Thanks. I see that at your link. However, a month ago it did not return a picture of Denzel Washington.
