Many open seats as Cowboys-Redskins kickoff (less than half full)

ARLINGTON The luster of the Dallas Cowboys may be growing dull.

The stadium that seats over 90,000 was less than half full at kickoff Thursday night at AT&T Stadium. Rally towels laid on the back of seats throughout the stadium stood out starkly.

Standing-room only tickets that typically sell for $25 were going for $6 on reseller stubhub.com. Upper deck seats were selling for as low as $20.

I've heard that there were no anti-American kneelers during the anthem although one Cowboy threw up a fist near the end of the song.

Well, c’mon, it’s not like there’s any great rivalry between the Cowboys and the Redskins or anything. /s

In the offseason, teams will paint their stadium seats random colors to help camouflage the empty seats.

I find it interesting that in most photos showing empty seats most of the empty seats are in the upper decks.

It might be that few fans want to help the NFL pay for that $90 mil slush fund going to the ‘Rats.

The vast majority of the tickets for those empty seats you see in the picture were sold as season tickets. The person that bought them is so disgusted they threw them away. Some probably tried to sell them on stubhub and couldn’t.

Imagine what the stadium will look like next year when consumers get to decide on renewals? I’ve had season tickets since 1987 to my home team. I’ve gone some this year, sold some, but damn sure aren’t going to buy any more next year. By the end of next season, I bet the NFL isn’t a third what it was revenue wise when Kaepernick first took a knee.

Maybe season ticket holders are embarrassed to go to a game.
They know they are supporting a business that doesn’t give a hoot what they think as paying customers.

Your comment reminds me of a story about the New York Jets back when the American Football League was just getting started ... maybe early 60’s.

The league reported the attendance at one game as 45,000. One sports reporter said “Sure, that’s true if 30,000 fans came disguised as empty seats!”

Probably everyone there is paying attention to the Alabama Special Election.

Or perhaps, because the fans got distracted because the second uncle of the Assistant to the Associate Director of the American Archery Academy was seen carrying the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Edition when walking from his mailbox to his house.

Yea, something like that.

Cannot remember the person who said it...but another line was..”there were so few people in the stands it was easier to introduce the fans to the players”...

Most of FR are boycotting, so are many Veterans and Active duty, I go to the Navy base at least once a week, don’t see many jersey’s like I use to.

Then we are watching conyers implode, pelosi told him resign, he’s hiding in the hospital due to stress, not running in 2018.

For decades, the Cowboys could play the Redskins at 4:00 A.M., Wednesday morning, in a stadium to be determined with one hour's notice, and it would be packed.

The flag-burning, anti-American cop-killers did this to themselves.
