For the first time, the White House said, the federal government has counted the green cards issued between 2005 and 2015 to migrants admitted through family preference, or as immediate relatives of migrants already admitted into the country in perhaps the fullest portrait of chain migration ever developed.
For years, we've known that large numbers of immigrants have been coming based on petitions from previous immigrants, U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services Director Lee Cissna told Fox News. But this is the first time we really kind of see the whole scope of the problem. And legislators or policymakers at DHS can do what they need to do address the problem.
During the ten-year time frame, officials said, the U.S. permanently resettled roughly 9.3 million new immigrants on the basis of family ties.
Thats more than 70 percent of all new immigration in that period, the White house said, adding it is also the primary driver of low-skilled workers entry into the U.S. A phenomenon analyst say most directly hurts American minority groups with comparable skills.
These numbers are explosive. They show that American immigration skews almost entirely towards family-based admissions, said a White House official who briefed Fox News on the data.
Mexico is at the top of the list with 1.7 million admissions, India and the Philippines each have more than 600,000, and Iran has more than 80,000.
President Trump has urged congressional Democrats to address chain migration in any compromise on the so-called Dreamers immigrants brought here as children who will face deportation in March if a deal on their disposition is not reached.
Republican Senators Tom Cotton of Arkansas and David Perdue of Georgia have proposed eliminating the preference afforded to extended and adult family members.

I can tell you a lot of the Iranian chain migration is religiously persecuted minorities leaving Iran. And that has been happening since 1978.
That offer w=may be taken up by a lot of us, I cannot for the life of me get the twentieth round in my new mags.
...and those are just the ones ICE and DHS knows about.
Good point......many more invaded...... and remain under the radar sucking up our tax dollars.
But those are mostly "H1B Wife Replacements" and an important offset to the native born candidates lost to radical feminist ideology. :)
“This shit has got to stop.”
Too late!
For every two immigrants admitted, you can say there were an additional seven admitted. So ... If the 9.3 million sponsored 7 more each in the family category that would be over 60 million who can sponsor 7 more... not including the #s admitted from past two years.
MAGA!
The frog is boiled
Ain't America great?
The chain migration has to stop.
Remember the German family who were Christians and were forced to leave Germany because they were no longer allowed to home school their children? Obama’s people forced them out. No Christians allowed, I guess.
Nary a PEEP about the world-wide Christian Holocaust that as going on all the while 0bama was in office.
*SPIT*
The State Department runs it’s own operation and the leftist bureaucracy does what it wants with no control. Immigration is one of those things it controls, unfortunately. The State Department is the deepest part of the DC swamp.
No white Christians allowed.
Just look at the third world immigration into America for proof.
I beg to differ. Chain migration for elderly parents does matter — at times if someone has moved from Sri Lanka to Wyoming, and the mother is elderly and widowed, then it makes sense for the mother to move to Wyoming to be with the children. Otherwise travelling there can take a day.
Even for the case of a legal immigrant from Mexico to New York, and the same situation as above — if the mother in some town in rural Mexico, it can take nearly a day to reach.
So there are valid circumstances in my humble opinion
the important thing is to ensure that immigrants have full allegiance to the USA and work for the betterment of the USA.
Exactly — there are circumstances where this is a good thing — as in the case of persecuted Christians running from Muslim countries
Eliminating the preference afforded to extended and adult family members.
I like the sound of that just do it now.
