given the fact that ABC just shot themselves in both feet with this MAJOR pieces of fake news and the fact that the other bazillion fake stream media outlets picked it up and uncritically replicated it a gazillion times, I’m thinking we won’t be hearing many more attacks for a while on Trump for calling them fake news, nor any more self-glorification diatribes about how a “free press” is vital to the survival of our nation.
Actually, the MEDIA should be held FINANCIALLY RESPONSIBLE for errors like this that caused many people to lose money. A CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT on behalf of all people who lost money in the market because of ABC.
ABC should be held liable for losses incurred by traders/investors who panic-sold their positions at a loss because of ABC’s fake news.
Option traders have a very short fuse: if their stock isn’t at a certain price by option expiration, they lose everything. This happened on a Friday when options were expiring. So some people lost all their option investments BECAUSE of ABC’s FAKE NEWS error.
A large class-action suit against ABC on behalf of investors who ABC caused to lose money WOULD PUT A HEFTY PRICE on the issuance of fake news and shoddy journalism practices. Suing them is one sure way to fight back against fake news and the left-wing media. There has to be a price for them to pay for this.

Facebook still won’t flag the Hill, View, or ABC news items about it as “fake news”.
So Trump has gotten the Media’s attention and the realize they have been spreading FAKE NEWS. They now understand they need to rebuild their image and integrity.

It’s a calculated apology to show fake humility in order to rebuild their power to persuade the simple minded. Oh, hey, look at us, we be the fountain of all truth with this single exception.
That is precisely what this is. It gives ABC an out by suspending him, but at the end of the day; it really amounts to a nice Christmas vacation.
Now if he had been accused of leering at an attractive intern; a different story altogether. Immediate firing followed by a multi-million dollar settlement.
I doubt that he would have reported the original erroneous claim without approval from higher up the food chain. Most of the sheeple are not aware of the correction or the difference between "candidate" and "president-elect". The blatantly false reporting achieved the desired objective.
