TRUMP MOVES TO BLOCK ROMNEY FROM SENATE President going all out to persuade 83-year-old Orrin Hatch to seek re-election in Utah Published: 24 mins ago (POLITICO) Donald Trump is going all out to persuade seven-term Utah Sen. Orrin Hatch to seek reelection — a push aimed in no small part at keeping the president’s longtime nemesis, Mitt Romney, out of the Senate.

Romney has been preparing to run for Hatch’s seat on the long-held assumption that the 83-year-old would retire. Yet Hatch, the longest-serving Republican senator in history, is now refusing to rule out another campaign — a circumstance Romney’s infuriated inner circle blames squarely on the president. Their suspicions are warranted: Trump has sounded off to friends about how he doesn’t like the idea of a Senator Romney.

I am certain the the Romney Campaign was behind the scurrilous articles about Mrs. Santorum. That was the lowest thing in that year’s campaigning.

Are those the ONLY viable choices; Well passed it’s due date Rocky Road ice cream (Hatch), and Imitation-Sugar-Dairy-Free Vanilla Ice Milk
(Romney)?

I voted for Romney in 2012. And then took a very long shower but still felt dirty. No, I’ve had enough of him, thank you.

We have a really messed up system when we have 83 year old Senators possibly running reelection.

We need savvy conservative 45 year business owners running for office.

State residency doesn’t seem to matter much, especially regarding the US Senate.

All someone seems to have to do is show up, register to get their name on the ballot, and wait for the election to see whether voters care that they are carpetbaggers.

It’s Utah we are talking about. That won’t be happening. Look at Mike Lee who started with such promise and now shines Romney’s shoes.

Give Trump his man; he’ll need Hatch when the chips are down. Hatch has also been one of the few in the Senate to sing the praises of the Prez.

Steve Bannon recommended actual conservatives to run for this Utah U.S. Senate seat: either, Boyd Matheson, or Utah state Rep. Mike Noel. There are, also, other pro-conservative possibilities for Utah U.S. Senate who may or may not run for this seat, but they remain unnamed, so far.

I’m not a fan of anyone serving close to 90 years old at the end of their term, but I will take Orrin Hatch over Mitt on any day.

Mitt will vote like Flake/Corker every time, without the retirement announcements. If elected, he will grease the skids for his sons.

We’ll be stuck with the feckless, diabolical Romney bunch for decades.

Go Orrin Hatch!

“””””It’s crazy too because does Romney even live in Utah? How can we be intellectually honest and criticize Hillary for moving to New York to run for Senate, if prominent Republicans do the same?”””””””””””
Franken did it. He is a New Yorker who suddenly pretended to be a Minnesotan.

DJT wants to block Romney and as long as Hatch is there, Romney won’t try. Too, Bannonistas might try and primary. However, Trump’s endorsement freezes out the others.

You’re right.

I think a phone call from DJT will call off the dogs from Bannon.

I’ve never forgotten how Hatch saved Clarence Thomas’ nomination.

And despite how many items I’ve disagreed with Hatch about, this is one thing he has done for which I can’t be more grateful.
