allowing milk with one percent fat

Wow, I was not aware that the school lunches had been forced to serve skim milk.

I grew up on milk straight out of the cow and I could never stomach that lightly colored water.

1% is barely tolerable in my book.

Kids today get plenty of fat and calories but I could not expect a kid to drink that stuff.

My Dad tried to get us kids to drink milk straight out of the cow when we were at grandma's house in the early 60's. I thought I was being smart when I told him that milk hadn't been pasteurized. He just said, "The cow has been in the pasture all day." I still didn't drink it.

The restriction to non-fat was only for flavored milk. Unflavored milk could be either non-fat or low-fat.

Both of these rules are unhealthy. They stem from the carb-heavy food pyramid that the left has been wrecking people’s health with for the last forty years (but which thankfully seems to be headed for the ash heap).

I'm with you, we had milk with cream on top. We churned our own butter, and farm food was delicious. You can't find good tomatoes, and eggs in a grocery store like what I had growing up. Skim milk is for girls, not for men. I was blessed by GOD to go to school in SE Louisiana, all the cooks were old Cajun or Creole women, I ate like a king at school. Since I always said please and thank you, and praised their cooking I always got extra food. My Marine son recently commented on how fit I was for my age, and I told him it is not what you eat, but how you eat.
