Mesa Police Shooting: Daniel Shaver Seen Crawling, Degging in Disturbing Video
CBS News ^ | 12/8

Posted on 12/08/2017 5:58:46 PM PST by nickcarraway

Brailsford orders Shaver, 26, to lay face-down in a hallway and refrain from making sudden movements - or risk being shot. He also orders a woman in the hallway to lie on the ground. Shaver is seen complying with the officer's order to put his hands on top of his head and cross his left foot over his right foot.

"Young man, you are not to move. You are to put your eyes down look down at the carpet you are to keep your fingers interlaced behind your head you are to keep your feet crossed," Brailsford says. "If you move, we are going to consider that a threat, and we are going to deal with it and you may not survive it, do you understand me?"

"Yes sir," Shaver says.

Brailsford then orders the woman to kneel, put her hands in the air and crawl towards officers. Officers then apparently handcuff her out of the view of the camera.

“The officer told him he was going to kill him and he did.”

That makes it first degree murder.

And i used to be one.

As did I.

And I do not regret one moment of it...but I truly weep for what Law Enforcement has become.

I see so many of these younger LE guys with the tattoos, the 'roid physiques, the fascination with the latest "tactical" device, the incessant talk about "proning the dude out", "capping his felonious ass", etc, etc.

I have 38 years of LE behind me, both military and civilian...and I should celebrate my brothers in blue...but truth be told...I am now scared shitless of them.

Ain't that a shame?

“I don’t think the most law-abiding of any of us could have done any differently.”

For one thing, I wouldn’t have let my hands drop below my shoulders.

Reaching for the waistband? Darwin award territory.

Is there a way to get his address to MS-13 for a visit?

Shaver's family is said to be pursuing a wrongful death suit against the city. Instead, they should contact MS-13 and put out a contract on the murderer.

“And as you noted, that could happen to any of us. Cop stops you on the street. You reach for your ID. Cop feels threatened. Cop shoots you dead.”

Officer, my ID is in my wallet, right here in my right front pocket. I’m going to reach for it slowly, and pull it out with two fingers. Can you tell your partner what I’m doing?

Unfortunately - there seems to be quite a few sub-par cops. I don’t know if it’s stress - lack of training- or maybe certain personality types are attracted to the job.
The good cops I know are good as gold and I admire them immensely.
I’ve come come across too many jerks though.

He’s no longer a cop. He was fired for using excessive force in another incident previous to the shooting.

That cop deserves to be treated with the exact same respect as that kid he executed, and I am usually on the side of the cops. May that piece of human feces burn in hell.

I'm disappointed that you all think inviting a violent drug and extortion gang to execute someone in our country is an idea you endorse.

It’s obvious the jury adhered to the common standard used to justify police shootings; that is: in the opinion of the officer did he feel threatened. He testifies that he did and the jury has their decision in hand.

If good cops aren’t speaking out, then they aren’t good.

Maybe good cops are just playing their part in a game of good cop/bad cop with the public.

I don’t know - I try to give people the benefit of the doubt.
People who are up to no good tend to conduct those actions out of view of their coworkers.

There is some kind of training error here. The cop threatens the victim, shouting hands up, don’t move, shut up, now move. In this situation the victim is forbidden by the cop from communicating any problem that he might encounter in following the cops new order to move. An innocent , foreseeable and apparently foreseen mistake by a young man is punished by execution. If the cop felt so threatened then why not ask for more backup? And Should not the command be lie down with hands behind his back? If there is not enough room for a second cop in that corridor then time for a diet. If the problem was a faulty training then can the family sue the city?

It’s Mesa.

The jury was probably all Mormon, and raised to believe the cop is always right.

I agree, I would have been dead for sure. I respect what LEO do, but I tend to avoid them whenever possible.

LEO used too many words to mask his lack of a command voice. He sounded like a bad script he’d run in his head repeatedly. I’m guessing his imagined scenarios always ended the same way as what unfolded in reality,

The victim was an idiot for pointing his pellet gun out a hotel window and an idiot cop murdered him for it.

This cop was looking for a reason and manufactured one. The jury erred.
