Germans say Russia is more reliable than the United States

Germans increasingly see Russia as a more reliable partner than the US, a new study released on Saturday has found.

The poll of 1,004 people by research institute Infratest dimap showed that 28 percent of respondents felt Moscow was a reliable partner, compared to 25 percent for Washington.

The result is the first time the public’s trust in the US has fallen below Russia in over a decade. An Infratest survey of public trust in Germany’s global partners in June found both countries tying at 21 percent.

France and Britain fared far better in the German public’s eyes. More than 90 percent said Paris was a reliable partner, while more than 60 percent said Britain, which has been trying to exit the European Union (EU), was a reliable partner.

The new results align with the findings of an August poll by the Pew Research Center that surveyed the public’s confidence in different world leaders.

Whereas 25 percent of Germans had confidence in Russian President Vladimir Putin, only 11 had confidence in US President Donald Trump. …

I guess it depends on how you define “reliable”. The Russian policy toward Germany was exceedingly reliable from July 1941 through May 1945. Reliable, yes. Friendly, not so much.

Dear Gemany,

America has reliably kicked your ass twice. The last time we kicked your ass we fought a two-front war and supplied massive amounts of weapons to your enemies (like the Soviet Union) and defeated two enemies on opposite sides of the world.

If America has to fight Germany a third time it will be the last time. After that there will be no more Germany. We are too decent to kill every last ungrateful SOB German but, mark my words, we will take the best and brightest of you (as well as all of the hot chicks) and ship them over to the North American continent and scatter them from north to south and east to west. Germany will become a sad amusement park filled with village idiots and we will watch over the demented remnant of Germany's population to keep them from hurting themselves while running with scissors.

They’re already working on it. Several countries have had parts of their military folded into the Bundeswehr. Not something that is reported on too often. They’re being very sneaky about it. Letting Mahometans into Europe is part of their strategy to increase demand for it among the “masses” too.

Because the Mahometans need the perfect jumping-off platform to hit the US east coast? Imagine them getting control of our nukes on German soil too.

Germany has ever been an ally of the US. In wartime, we have only ever fought and defeated them. We have a worthless piece of paper that says we may be on the same side.

Germany needs to relearn this.

OK; then they’d bring Iranian nukes, presuming they become dominant there; and one cannot presume they would not build their own. Conquerors are never satisfied with one continent.

But this “poll” is trying to imply a Molotov-Ribbentrop redux being palatable among Germans. Of course, these reflect the thinking of the elite politicians more than the regular people.

There were the Prussians, the Huns and the Nazis. What will it be, if there’s a next time?

Oh great.

They’re not only letting them flood in, but giving them rifles, machine guns, tanks, aircraft, training.

They should be able to wipe out the German citizenry in no time.

The comments are coming from people in various countries. At least one German (Gustauve Drakenhime) wrote one friendly comment.

Like most Americans, I have a few German ancestors. But I won’t go with German identity or any other kind of foreign national identity.

“Here is Germany” was indeed propaganda. There was much truth in it, but there were exaggerations and false contrasts. There was a reason for posting the link, though. If other nations prepare for war against us, we’ll fight in every way possible, including with insulting propaganda.

Too many (though not all) Germans have really been dishing out anti-American propaganda, lately, as many other Europeans have. What surprises me a little, though, is a recurring complaint that I’ve seen in recently made videos showing complaints against us from people on German streets. Quite a few of them said that one of our faults is that we are “naive,” an indication that they disrespect us for being more unassuming than them. It also indicates the transverse: that they see something positive about preying on the naive: a kind of admission of an admiration of evil.
