Germans say Russia is more reliable than the United States

Germans increasingly see Russia as a more reliable partner than the US, a new study released on Saturday has found.

The poll of 1,004 people by research institute Infratest dimap showed that 28 percent of respondents felt Moscow was a reliable partner, compared to 25 percent for Washington.

The result is the first time the public’s trust in the US has fallen below Russia in over a decade. An Infratest survey of public trust in Germany’s global partners in June found both countries tying at 21 percent.

France and Britain fared far better in the German public’s eyes. More than 90 percent said Paris was a reliable partner, while more than 60 percent said Britain, which has been trying to exit the European Union (EU), was a reliable partner.

The new results align with the findings of an August poll by the Pew Research Center that surveyed the public’s confidence in different world leaders.

Whereas 25 percent of Germans had confidence in Russian President Vladimir Putin, only 11 had confidence in US President Donald Trump. …

Many in Europe also reacted negatively against our President’s declaration of U.S. recognition of Israel’s capital, Jerusalem. They have no reasonable interest in Israel, while the majority of Americans support Israel for moral reasons.

It’s an impulsive, obsessive derangement on their part—an attitude mentioned in several places in the Prophets in what most people here call the Old Testament. Fascinating reading, if one reads it through without injecting metaphors from material outside of the Old Testament into their minds to distract themselves from what’s in front of them. It’s even more fascinating, if all of it is read to its complete, concrete and final conclusion in the Old Testament.

“”Germans say Russia is more reliable than the United States”

If that’s the case why then do not the Germans push to have the US replaced by Russia in NATO so the Germans can have Russia protect Germany from Russia next time Russia decides to press westward.

The people who think Russia is reliable must have all-electric. Those who have gas heat probably don’t agree.

“They’re chomping at the bit to re-militarize. “

Oh, gosh no! They spend almost nothing on defense. They rely entirely on the US. Re-militarizing would mean taking money away from their socialist social programs. Germany is like a giant Disney World with everything manicured. Of the five main political parties, there is no political party advocating a bigger military, or even paying their share to NATO.

Mark Twain described how Americans and Brits were treated rudely by the locals at Baden-Baden while the same Germans would bow and scrape for Russians. This in the 1880s.

Close every U.S. base and watch the economy of those areas go down the tubes. Also, it’s time for them to pay us reparations for WWII. They need us a helluva lot more then we need them...

They’re chomping at the bit to re-militarize.

Lol...if only that were true.

Trump has to twist their arms to cough up 1/2 their NATO dues

What will the Germans rely on Russia to do? Split Poland with them again?

Hitler agreed. That is why he sent his last three crack armies to the Ardennes forest rather than the Eastern Front in the waning days of the war. That is why he chose to move in his underground bunker in Berlin rather than his castle in Bavaria after the Battle of the Bulge turned out to be a mighty flop.

He thought National Socialism might survive a few years of rule by Communism. He wasn't so sure about Western Democracy.

Ungrateful all. The East Germans escaping to the west and those who died trying didnt seem to have the same trust in Russia.

Germany? They make some nice cars, beer and are good at soccer and a few other things. I have been there when I did my eurailpass trip. It’s an ok place but there are nicer parts of Europe.

Note to all reading the fake title Deutsche Welle gave the article. Given all the poll numbers, Germans trust NEITHER the U.S. nor Russia very well.
