Because, I would not be glad, I've always myself and in my advice to friends and relatives - especially when talking about tragic case like this - make a point of sticking to two rules: 1) always keep your hands in sight 2) do not make any sudden moves.

And I pray they always remember that advise rather than the cheap 2nd guessing of split-second life-and-death decisions as found in the replies I'm receiving.

and you are receiving these replies because, as I said earlier, you are attempting to defend the indefensible; your advice to loved ones is all fine and well, but unless we are trained combatants, we are more likely to freak out first and get killed, and remember your advice second, when it is too late...
