U.S. immigration and customs agents have increased arrests of undocumented Irish people by 30 percent in 2017. Thats according to statistics released by ICE in December. This comes after Donald Trump signed an executive order just days after his inauguration ordering an ICE crackdown on illegal immigration. Those figures indicate that 34 Irish citizens have been deported from America this year as compared with 26 in 2016.
The Irish Times reports that the majority of Irish who have overstayed their visas were on vacation waivers. The executive director of the Irish International Immigrant Center in Boston, Ronnie Millar, told the newspaper, We have had 17 Irish detained already this year. We have definitely seen in Boston greater enforcement, and we are representing a number of individuals and we are supporting them as best we can. There is a deep, deep concern about the increased activity here.
Millar added that many undocumented Irish are leaving of their own accord rather than live in fear.
The center is advising people not to open their door to ICE agents unless they can produce a warrant signed by a judge. [ ]
A March 2017 CNN report estimated the number of undocumented Irish living and working in the U.S. at 50,000. Speaking to the network, an undocumented Irish person named Shauna, who lives in the Bronx, said, It is easier being illegal here when youre white. Its not easy, of course, you have that paranoia but there isnt the racial element. Its a bit easier to stay under the radar.

San Francisco? Unlikely.Boston,NYC,Philly and maybe Chicago.
Buh Byeee, Paddy.
And that’s from a LEGAL, Lace Curtain/Shanty Irish descendent.
Erin-Go- get the F*ck Out!
Don’t know the numbers but back in the 80’s there were more then a few bars in SF that were the “known” Irish illegals hangouts, and they were packed all the time.
The cops in SF were half Irish then and could have cared less. The old INS would occasionally stage a raid but it was half hearted.
Nowadays there’s certainly far more Chinese and Mexican illegals in SF but it doesn’t mean the Irish left; they just have less to worry about.
Understood. I still want them out of here before they cause evrn more mayhem If it costs some money so be it.
illegal “people of color” immigrants!
Might be Black Irish /s and a chuckle
Im of Irish decent and if you are here illegally you should get out . For some reason , Im thinking Ted Kennedy was big on bringing in IRA terroist , maybe that was just a movie . LOL !
“Good. I dont care where they are from. If they are illegal, they need to leave”
Yep, no question...UK...AUSSIE...Canada.....
They should all go. It’d be a false dilemma to imply that some ought to stay. Not to mention the history of terrorism out of left-wing Irish.
Amen!
It gives people trying to block ICE deportations on the grounds that they are “only” against “brown people” no leg to stand on in court. They sue alleging that ICE is only deporting Hispanics and Africans, ICE can point to the deportation of Irish illegals.
Also, if we don’t investigate, we don’t know how many Irish are here illegally. We currently have visaless travel between Ireland and the US.
So?
They’re here illegally. Deport them at once.
Remove ALL illegal aliens, regardless of country of origin or length of illegal presence or age.
I have Irish ancestry, and I too say they should leave.
Eh, it’s okay for the folks in the East to keep busy too.
They’re going to be in the area anyway.
An illegal alien is an illegal alien. No other factors mean diddly squat to me.
There’s a way for honest, well mannered, young Scots without criminal histories to get into the U.S.A. legally.
1. Be conservative and old fashioned in the American sense.
2. Get into good physical condition in advance if necessary. Exercise.
3. Date Americans. Be selective. Be very patient, and take your time (maybe at least a couple of years?). Communicate often. At your discretion, as trust increases, tell all about yourself. Avoid Americans who are not as open and honest as you are. Visit at least a few times.
4. Marry Americans.
Oh...I said Scots, didn’t I.
;-)
Very similar cultures are far less costly to assimilate than very different cultures. So yes, it makes a difference.
