If double standard deduction doesn’t cover state taxes, it is time to MOVE.

As long as you don't move to a high property tax state (like TX, FL, etc.) and aren't paying a lot of out of pocket medical expenses (to include the monthly premiums). I see little way for retiree couples making less than $100k from avoiding a higher federal tax bill.
