Senate may put off most anticipated Russian probe findings

With no firm conclusions yet on whether President Donald Trump’s campaign may have coordinated with Russia, the Senate intelligence committee could delay answering that question and issue more bipartisan recommendations early next year on protecting future elections from foreign tampering.

Recommendations on how to counter the threat from attempted election hackers could be the first written product from congressional committees examining Russian interference into the 2016 election that put Trump in the White House. An early bipartisan report could be an attempt to boost confidence in the panel’s probe, as lawmakers worry that other issues could be lost if they are not able to agree on the most anticipated questions like collusion.

A new poll by the Associated Press-NORC Center for Public Affairs Research shows more than half of Americans have expressed skepticism about multiple congressional investigations, with just 13 percent saying they’re very or extremely confident they will be fair and impartial.

There has been concern from both Democrats and Republicans that if members can’t agree, the final reports will be dismissed by an already skeptical, partisan public.

“The more bipartisan it is, the more it will be believed,” said Virginia Sen. Mark Warner, the top Democrat on the intelligence committee, of a final report. …

No, Mr. Warner. The more bipartisan, the least credible.

And I do find it amazing that AP-NORC is itself credible here.

In other words, a year of investigating has revealed no evidence that the Trump campaign did the slightest thing wrong. Rather than admit that, they’re going to delay issuing a report and continue investigating.

the whole purpose of this AP article is to include the following:

“from congressional committees examining Russian interference into the 2016 election that put Trump in the White House”

“as lawmakers worry that other issues could be lost if they are not able to agree on the most anticipated questions like collusion”

just shut it down.

this might be their way or throwing in the towel and thinking they aren’t eating crow- but they are- putting it off- lol yup- admitting defeat it seems

either that or they are ‘putting it off’ as a diversion tactic hoping htis will curry a little favor and get the republicans to drop their counter investigations into hillary, uranium 1, fraud in the fbi cover up for hillary etc-

Maybe hte tide is finally turning-

But don’t bet too heavily on it as they are still plenty plenty mad about the GOP impeaching clinton for sex in oval office- they will NEVER forget that- and will always try to get revenge- I think that is the primary reason they are going after the sexual misconduct charges against trump by those 20 or so women so heavily now-

We’ll see how the game of chicken plays out

Perhaps Congress can start by drafting legislation to prevent the FBI from interfering in U,S. Elections.

burr is such a pitiful do nothing loser. just blurr the whole time in the senate. embarrassed he has been our senator. definitely on the take with serious blackmail problems to be folding like an awning chair this way with a goofy conclusion of a nothing result letting the demos off and only searching with a dim flash light in the middle of the night for conclusion by the repubs...never to be found since everyone know s there wasn’t any!

I anticipate that there will ever be any evidence beyond hearsay and accusation but that this Mueller investigation will wind up with Mueller preferring charges based entirely on conjecture and that it will gain some serious traction in the Congress with serious attempts to impeach. It will then be Ryan who calls for the House to impeach. The lack of evidence will be no detriment to the procedure.

They are going to put off the decision hoping something will come up someday in the future.

Warner is Pelosi in drag.

Burr is a disgusting rino, a very smooth quiet guy who waits his chance to twist the knife.

He conned us for years into believing that he is a conservative.
