Pope says saga of Holy Family echoes in today’s migrants, refugees

According to the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees, there are today 65.6 million people who’ve been forcibly driven from their homes, including 22.5 million refugees and 10 million stateless persons. According to the same data, 20 people somewhere in the world are forcibly displaced every minute of every day. One could say that Pope Francis had all those people in mind on Christmas Eve, as he preached a homily extolling the Holy Family as an exemplar for today’s burgeoning numbers of people who find themselves unwillingly on the move.

“We see the tracks of entire families forced to set out in our own day,” Francis said, describing the Gospel story of Jesus and Mary being forced to set out for Bethlehem, where Mary would eventually give birth to the baby Jesus.

I don’t even acknowledge him as Pope.

I don't recall the Holy Family having intentionally (or unintentionally) exploded bombs in crowded places killing dozens,or hundreds,of innocent people.

Horsesh*t. What maudlin, sophist tripe. The refugees are sexual deviants, liars, parasites, rapists, criminals, terrorists-in-training.

If that is the pope's opinion of the Holy Family, what other peculiar "infallible" thoughts is he hawking?

Has the Pope read the Bible?

No. Mary and Joseph were working stiffs traveling to go pay confiscatory taxes to their government. They were not immigrants, illegals, or migrant workers. They had a lodging problem, not a wealth or foreigner problem.

I don’t acknowledge anyone as Pope. That is why I labeled him “Mr. Pope”. This so called Pope is a drastically terrible excuse even for a “Pope”. The Bible says, actually Jesus himself, to call no man father. The word pope means father.

In the homily tonight, the priest said Mary and Joseph were homeless.

I did not know that. I thought Joseph was a carpenter and that he lived (had a home) in Nazareth.

Jesus and family fled to Egypt to escape Herod’s mass infanticide.

When Herod died, Jesus and family returned to Israel.

They didn’t stay in Egypt permanently, demand special rights, align themselves with the most radical elements in Egyptian politics, and try to take over !

So I would guess he also believes the holy family and friends raped and murdered just like his immigrant friends

Similar to when Hillary once tried to compare Joseph, Mary, and Jesus to homeless people in a speech. Politicizing Christmas for liberal agenda is not new.
