Wow. I had no idea Indians refuse to use pesticides for religious reasons. Just wow.
We briefly were landlords back in the early 1990s when my husband and I got married, and we rented out my small condo that I bought a few years before I met him.
The quality of the tenants started off great, but went downhill rapidly after our first wonderful tenant moved out after 4 years. The next 5-10 or so tenants were a constant headache, and we usually had to chase 'em down for rent money. NEVER again!
The day I sold that condo was one of the happiest days of my life.
My understanding is that just the Hindus do that (because they believe in reincarnation). I’ve seen FReepers comment about Hindus refusing to eat cows, but many refuse to eat any meat at all.
Friends who’ve owned rental properties all eventually sold them for reasons you describe; they summed it up like this: The best tenants are the kind that save up and buy a house of their own.
I think in some wealthy areas you could get good tenants, but you’d pay a LOT for the property.
I’m ready to put my condo up for sale.....the tenants above me are retarded....the father does not work....and they have a kid that runs up and down the unit all day....they never go out....the landlord is an a$$hole for renting to these inconsiderate morons.....their bedroom is above my garage which I occasionally open @ 2am....next will be a 24/7 boom box......
