I have traveled in & out of Oregon several times.

I never understood the law about NOT letting a car owner pump their own gas.

I was told it was ‘because gasoline was ‘carsogenic’.

Seemed to me a far larger danger to the employees who did nothing BUT PUMP GASOLINE for 8-10 hours a day as a job.

There was (or is?) some benzene (I believe, according to my Engineer Chemistry professor, former GM engineer) which was labeled a carcinogen hence the “carcinogenic” statements.

It’s usually easy enough to stay upwind of the fumes - I do it just out of habit now. Now this data was from 30 years ago admittedly. I don’t know if it has changed so if anyone knows, thanks in advance.
