A common theme among progressives is that conservatives aren't just wrong; they're dumb. Reagan was dumb. G.W. Bush was dumb. Trump is dumb. "Knuckle-dragger," "mouth-breather," "stupid," and "uncultured" are typical pejoratives hurled at conservatives, who apparently tend to live in trailer parks, require dental care, handle snakes, and marry first cousins. Why, I had a liberal actor (excuse the redundancy) tell me once that I wasn't necessarily bad, just not as "evolved" as he was. (I had a great retort at the ready, but I decided just to lash him with my tail instead.) The reason for this arrogance isn't as simple as many may think. Rather, it relates to a deep psychological phenomenon that makes it difficult for those afflicted to evolve out of the leftist primordial soup.
I'll introduce this with a story. Many years ago, I was at an affair attended by a very chauvinistic, left-wing Greek fellow who would expound upon the superiority of Greek culture while at times demeaning the U.S. He was like the father character in My Big Fat Greek Wedding, only with an anti-American twist. Desiring to take him down a peg and do a little face-to-face trolling, I finally said with a smirk, "If all that's true, why is Greece now like a third-world country?" (For those offended, know that I have great respect for ancient Greek accomplishments, just love moussaka, and have the physique of a Spartan hoplite.)
Well, I exaggerate not when saying he turned red and, with veins popping out in his neck, exclaimed, "Don't say that! Don't say that!" It was the kind of situation where you get the feeling the guy might take a swing at you.

In a discussion with a liberal on a favorite author, she went on and on about his most popular book. I interrupted and said that I was referring to one of his lesser known works and mentioned the title. She was shocked that I, a deplorable conservative, was so well-versed in literature.
Simple answer: when you don't have anything to elevate yourself, the only way to be on top is by denigrating or depressing the opposition.

Most of them are incredibly hilariously funny and all true!
I myself have nearly gotten into several car crashes because I could barely drive straight after hearing some of those.
It is the left that is so drunk on their own arrogance they don’t recognize the folly when it spits on their shoes.

This has been the modus operandi of the Left since the Eisenhower administration...at least.
Non-Democrat candidates and office holders are one of four things: Dangerous, Evil, Stupid, or some combination of those three things.
Eisenhower: Stupid
Goldwater: Evil and Dangerous.
Nixon: Evil, Stupid and Dangerous.
Ford: Stupid
Reagan: Evil, stupid, and Dangerous.
GHW Bush: Stupid, Dangerous
Dole: Stupid
GW Bush: Evil, Stupid, Dangerous
McCain: Stupid and Dangerous (Okay, they were right there)
Palin: Stupid
Trump: Evil, Stupid, Dangerous. Squared. (Add new one, which will be rolled out for all future non-Left candidates: Insane)
The condition he describes sounds a lot like narcissistic personality disorder.
While they may state intellectual arguments, those arguments are only a front for the emotional resistance they have towards our Creator. That is why I rarely engage in religious discussions. They are emotionally based, and no one will be swayed. Basically they are a waste of time and effort.

A similar situation can be seen in the loud stereo systems in ghetto cars. It is the ONLY way the driver can make his presence known to those who otherwise wouldn’t give a moment’s thought. Same goes for the outrageous states of undress...
To a liberal.....the only thing that counts is that “you care.”
Tolerance and compassion above all.
Shedding a tear is compulsory.
Competence and experience are irrelevant.... as long as you try.
Diversity is a sacrament.
Hurt feelings are verboten. A discouraging word is never to be uttered.
Liberals invented the ludicrous “participation awards” given to loser kids just for being in the game.
Don’t forget the “amiable dunce” that was used to describe Reagan. Saturday Night Live created that one. Also, Ford was “clumsy” in addition to being stupid.
All the while portraying their guy/gal as smartest person on planet.

Trump reads these people perfectly. The “stable genius” and “I am, like, really really smart” Tweets make their collective heads explode! Love it! Master Troll Trump!!!
And don’t forget that the Bush family are the leftists’ ideals for a good conservatives, being neither good nor conservative.
My wife and I had one of our most vocal disagreements on this very thing...
My wife is not a liberal in any sense by disposition...she believes in responsibility both fiscal and personal, law and order, etc. but she consumes liberal programming on television, which I have not watched for about two decades now.
She watches a lot, the news, Oprah, Ellen, those things. I can’t even walk by them without feeling revulsion, but...that is her thing. She uses them as background noise as she works.
But she is to a degree apolitical, quite unlike me. But I can’t help walking by the television as she watches it and hearing or seeing snippets...
And so, when they were right in the middle of this “amiable dunce” thing from the book, for three mornings in a row, as I walked by the TV she was watching in the morning, that was the subject on Good Morning America, The Today Show and all that crap.
On the fourth day, I walk through, again...same thing, and I just exploded. “WTF, is this the only thing, with everything going on, that these a-holes can find to talk about?”
My wife stood up, put her foot down (yes, she did) and said “I don’t comment on things you watch on television, so I would appreciate it if you would avoid talking about things that I watch!”
An uncharacteristic verbalization, but...I had to accede to to that request...gotta keep the peace in the house!
God. Look at how they tried to pump up Adlai Stevenson, who might well have been one of the worst candidates in history.
They made him out to be some kind of well read intellectual, but didn’t realize that isn’t what Americans want in a leader. But it was a snobbish appeal that came straight from their liberal hearts...bless them.
I portray myself to liberals as an idiot savant. They seem happy with that. This designation allows me to be their superior intellectually while being dismissed as terribly ignorant. As a bonafide deplorable I love it.
