Sams Club, a unit of Wal-Mart Stores Inc, closed a series of stores following a review, the membership-only store chain said in a tweet on Thursday.
The tweet came after a series of reports from local news outlets said some Sam's Club stores were closed abruptly on Thursday, with employees learning of the move as they arrived for work.

We got a Sam's guest pass awhile back and tried it out. It was OK but didn't have the selection of a Costco and just wasn't as fun a shopping experience.
Not that I agree with it BUTT if you tell employees that the store will close in two weeks a lot of looting and chicanery will take place.
I remember a few years ago when my son gave notice at his software type job as he got a much better job. He told them he would stay around a few weeks because he was the lead on a few projects and wanted to complete them. They chucked him out the door immediately and paid him anyway.
It’s how it goes these days.
Here’s one.
Guess now the employees at that store can shuffle their feet a little slower and shuck & jive on their own time.
There are a total of 63 stores closing across the country.
Sams club merchandise is inferior to Costco. My opinion, Sams has a cheap feel. Have only been twice though. Regular at Costco.
“A lot of the stores are in high tax states - CA, IL, NJ, NY - coincidence?”
Yes! They are all Democrat states...
I’ve been a member of both... COSTCO is better.
I belong to both. Costco is by far the best. Especially produce... and most of all, Quality of employees
I only belong to Sam's Club as it is close to my house and I must drive about 20 minutes to get to Costco.
>>Quality of employees

And that is because Sam’s CEO, a black female, proudly admitted to deliberately hiring less qualified black candidates over what she said were better qualified white candidates.
Sam’s club looks like a clone of costco until you get up front and you are back in walmart. Not to mention the better quality of items at costco. I have bought charcoal that wouldn’t light and batteries that exploded. We also have a costco 30 minutes away and a sam’s club 5 minutes away and we are costco members. Sam’s sucks.
That’s why I stay away from Walmart..
The service is horrible.
There is no such thing as “Fast Food” or “Fast Service” in the South.
It’s just like shopping at a regular walmart but it has bigger packages. I’ve seen Sam’s clubs located in pretty horrible locations and overlap. Given the choice between costco and sam’s club I choose costco.
I trust the kirkland signature brand more than I do with any other stores in house brand.
Lord knows everyone needs one gallon jars of mayo!!
Same general range of states and locations as the recent Sears-KMart closures.
1. Less new illegal alien/welfare state shoppers = fewer shoppers and no growth expected in these locations.
2. Excessive theft and losses = no profits in these locations from those who do go in the stores in these locations
Perhaps there was union organizing activity going on in these locations.
Six of the stores in Illinois GREAT JOB Illinois so typical!!! 4 in NY, I bet there will be more in CA. VERY SOON!!! We have a Sams and a Walmart super center in SAME parking lot bet they will close that Sams as soon as they can, could never understand the reasoning behind that WHY would anyone pay a membership fee when they can just go to Walmart super center!!! Costco is about a block away STUPID planning on their part!!! CA. is also going to 15.00 an hour min. wage which started the first of last year being done in stages!!!! Our state should be attracting MORE illegals than we ALREADY HAVE if that is possible!!!!
Our Sam’s Club store looks as though it is in Mexico City by the customers!
Charlie: Raymond, look at me, are you looking?
Raymond: Yeah,
Charlie: K-Mart sucks, okay?
Raymond: Yeah.
Been a member of Sam’s Club for about 5 years. It’s closer to us than Costco.
No complaints about the products, service or prices.
They offer “free samples” usually in the afternoon.
For produce, we shop at Aldis.
If ICE raided our Sam’s Club they would need a fleet of busses.
