Norway also has a relatively strict immigration policy designed to preserve Norwegian culture and "way of life". Learn the language and learn the history and assimilate. Of course, the nattering nags at the View would scream "RACISM!" if Trump were to suggest similar requirements for the U.S.

Norway: 5.26 million people
Singapore: 5.7 million
Switzerland: 8.4 million

Hardly a comparison as countries with the US with 323 million population.

“Norwegians might want to come here because of the weather.”

I remember seeing a female comedian from Minnesota. She had a bit of an accent, and said she had a Swedish background. She talked about how her family had worked hard, scrapped and saved, made their way across the fjords and across the ocean, and all the way to the US - where they then made their way to ‘a place just as f***ing miserable as where they came from’...

In fact $70000 is a burger flipper income in Norway. Established professionals are doing much better. On the other hand you don’t want to know how much a burger or a gallon of gas cost in Norway, let alone home prices

Yes but you're taxed up the wazoo. Not just income tax but sin taxes on alcohol and tobacco. And VAT on your auto and other purchases. Yes great cradle-to-grave social services. But also that six months of winter. That dour Scandinavian outlook. And last but not least, lutefisk!

Lots of Scandinavians in Wisconsin / Minnesota / The Dakotas. The land was cheap - practically free - and they were great farmers. And a climate they were accustomed to.

Historically Norwegians and Finns were persecuted minorities within the Swedish Empire. Then the Finns incorporated themselves into Russia to stop persecution the way ancient Caucasian Kingdoms like Georgia and Armenia did to save themselves from Muslims. Then the Finns assisted Russians in destroying the Swedish Empire. By 19th century Sweden was mostly neutered and Norway declared independence in 1814, got a Constitution. It wasn’t actually recognized until earlier 1900s but it was practically independent since that time.

Aug 1, 2012:

Norway is one of the most heavily taxed countries in the world with a total tax burden of roughly 45% of GDP– almost 4x Hong Kong and nearly twice the US.

VAT is a whopping 25%.
Personal income tax rates border 55%.
Corporate profits tax ranges from 28% to as high as 78%.

You forgot to mention Sweden letting the Third Reich use Sweden as a staging ground for invading Norway—my family was long gone by that point, but they noticed and did not forget.

I suggest we test Behar’s premise and immediately grant unfettered immigration to the United States for Norwegians.

Yep, taxes and tariffs are a massive downside but all in all most of them like it better.
Actually the most unattractive of all in US for people from better off European countries are crime and healthcare. They are so used to ‘free’ doctors that the idea to pay for medicine makes them sick by itself.

It’s a good climate for some things. Slackers looking for an easy life tend to gravitate elsewhere. And hockey is a good thing.

But reports have it that that oil is running out.

Well, there's always lutefisk to fall back on.

Sweden also supplied the Krupp Works and the Third Reich with iron ore throughout WWII.
