That’s what Imperial Japan thought once upon a time. My 1940 Buick was almost two years old then; it’s 78 years old now.

My dad traded our 1940 Buick four door sedan for a 1951 Pontiac in 1954. I was ticked! Even though I was only 13, I loved that old Buick, and wanted to keep it.

When I started legally driving in 1957, I spent the next three years trying to blow that 6 cylinder flathead Pontiac engine up. Never did! For all I know, it is still running!

That Pontiac was ugly, but it was tough!
