A man who became known as Houston's "Tourniquet Killer" because of his signature murder technique on four female victims more than two decades ago is set to become the nation's first prisoner executed in 2018.

The equally terrible crime is that it took 20 years to flush this POS down into the sewers of Hell.
Talk about a rip-off!Texas has to reach some magic limit to pay off the state-provided defense lawyers for these animals. They don’t tell the taxpayers what that number is, but it usually takes about 20 years for real justice to be done.
Ridiculous that it took this long
more than two decades ago.............?
I’d suggest Texas take another look at their law and do some “cost saving” planning. I’d suggest they house the bastard for 5 years and then, when all appeals are over hang, electrocute, lethal injection, shoot, drown or do what ever it takes. No sympathy for people like that, NONE!
Yes. And this is Texas! Other states, the bastards sentenced to death die of illnesses associated with old age before someone kicks the sandbag.
the murders happened in the 1990s. he was caught and convicted about 14 years ago.
14 years in this case is too long as he confessed, dna match, and he wanted to be executed.
May God have mercy on his soul, as the chaplains say, and we can always extend that expression of Christian charity to even the worst monster. May the Lord uphold the four victims’ family and friends who have gone through so much suffering and pain.
“14 years in this case is too long as he confessed, dna match, and he wanted to be executed.”.........
What the hell took so long? Must have been waiting to see if the deceased might return to life. “Bureaucratic delays” can be overwhelming at times.
Article doesn’t mention what his last meal will be.
The costs and delayed justice aside, this asshole had 14 years to adjust to prison life, get 3 squares a day, free medical, TV, maybe he got hooked on a series or two... In short, he got used to living. Year after year his execution seemed like a distant, surreal fate. Im guessing that human psychology stifles the mind from dwelling on it and then, bam, his time was up. There is something deservingly cruel about that process that draws a smile across my face.

I think Texas did away with the last meal option.
I think Texas did away with the last meal option.
***************
Correct.... Ended the option in late 2011.
Texas doesn’t give a “last meal” choice anymore. He’ll get whatever is on the prison menu for that day.
In Texas if you kill someone, we will kill you back
“The equally terrible crime is that it took 20 years to flush this POS down into the sewers of Hell.”
And every politician, judge ,lawyer etc along every step of the way who contributed to the prolongation should suffer the same fate.
20 years. Disgusting.
Ain’t that the truth!
