As others said, it’s “Live Action Role Play” but in the context of political information, it refers to people who allude to having advance or insider knowledge of (usually dramatic) news which isn’t true and doesn’t materialize.
The phrase appears to be chosen a) out of derision because of the poor reputation of people who run about pretending to be fantasy characters (think D&D in sewers 70s-style or vampire: the masquerade) but also b) accurately, because it’s a falsehood pretending to happen in the real world.
This is but the tip of the spear. All hell is going to rain down on the left. Globally. Smiley face. Why do you think Trump is going to Davos?
