But that would exceed the allowable salt content for inland waterways.

Careful - that would increase the salt content.

We had a school bus slide down a steep road in Seattle and jumped a short wall and was left hanging a 30-foot overpass. Luckily nobody was hurt. The city said they don’t use salt on the roads because of the environmental impact.

I was relating that to my 16-year old at the time.

Upon hearing that he replied: “What a bunch of idiots, Puget Sound is saltwater.”

Shortly after that accident they started using salt again.
