White House worried FBI director could quit over Nunes memo release

Washington (CNN)Top White House aides are worried FBI Director Christopher Wray could quit if the highly controversial Republican memo alleging the FBI abused its surveillance tools is released, multiple sources with knowledge of the situation tell CNN.

Wray has made clear he is frustrated that President Donald Trump picked him to lead the FBI after he fired FBI Director James Comey in May, yet his advice on the Nunes memo is being disregarded and cast as part of the purported partisan leadership of the FBI, according to a senior law enforcement official.

Wray's stance is "raising hell," one source familiar with the matter said.

Wray has not directly threatened to resign after clashing with Trump over the possible release of the memo, the source added, because that is not his style of dealing with conflict.

I know seriously -

“Oh no! No! No! - don’t fire the head of the secret police or let him resign!!!” “ Anything but that!!”

Agree with everything you’ve stated in this post.

I can’t even comment on threads anymore, I’m waiting for some of the dust to settle and those screetching the loudest can be finally muted. I’m shocked how many posters run around from thread to thread spreading their doom and gloom, or as you state, trying to tell all what POTUS should be doing.

If it weren’t all so serious, it would be comical.

“Trump needs to ring up a few random Special Agents In Charge of various local/regional offices to see who’s available to be in DC tomorrow. “

I don’t think that would work since I suspect the corruption extends down to the SAC level. They got that position by have a sponsor at the headquarters. The corruption and their belief that they are “independent” is to the point that it can’t be fixed within the current personnel.

Aides may be worried, but Trump? I think not.

If Wray has done nothing wrong, why would he resign? Doesn’t he want to get rid of corrupt FBI officials? If not, he needs to go, too.

What’s the matter, Gloria Borger? Couldn’t get a single person to go on the record in your ‘article’? I’m supposed to take this seriously?

“President Trump hired this guy..and Wray is gonna stab him in the back...”

Wray should resign, and Trump ought to fire whomever it was that recommended him for the position. I don’t believe for a minute that President Trump knew anything about Wray, other than that somebody recommended him, and Trump rubber stamped it.

He is in a position to fix it.

No one seems to remember he sand bagged the President on the Kennedy papers.

Wray worked for Comey in the DoJ 2003-5.
