Those who have never endured a parade have no idea of the preparation time it requires. It’s one royal PITA for those participating, but feel free to disagree with me.

I disagree with you. As a youngster and as a teenager, I marched in many parades on the fourth of July. Year long drilling and hard work and practice as well as sore feet and blisters were the rewards of continued effort towards perfection. LOVED being a part of something great. NEVER regretted the problems incurred in practicing. Seems my generation was more given to honoring our country than the wimps of today.
Would you rather we spit on the military or throw them a parade? Just who’s side are you on anyway?

Actually, the thing would make for a fine military tattoo and they have just about enough around DC to do a fine parade without hauling all the hardware in there.
Although I would like to be the one on a Abrams to spin a few pissies on the grass.
I grew up in the ‘90’s cutting pictures out of “Mach 1” magazine and putting them on my school books. My heart skips a beat at the sound of jet and rotor noise. Later when I got older I realized that there is a volunteer up there making it happen, fighting for people who couldn’t fight for themselves. I’m always looking for a chance to say “Thank You.” It’s just a bit of hero worship. Please. Allow me the opportunity to say thank you.
I agree. Bring it! A super way to skyrocket morale and well deserved recognition for our armed forces who have been fighting so tirelessly for us since 9/11.

The general is retired, head of a defense advisory board. He did not contradict the C-in-C. He explained the difference between a working military and a show military. He ended it with “if the president wants a parade the military will give him a parade.”

What about the Inaugural Parades of President Eisenhower in which TANKS rolled down Pennsylvania Avenue? Were you there? I was!
