One of the biggest U.S. gun manufacturers is taking steps toward filing for bankruptcy, according to Reuters news service.
Remington Outdoor Company Inc. has “reached out to banks and credit investment funds in search of financing that will allow it to file for bankruptcy,” Reuters reported Thursday evening, citing “people familiar with the matter.”
According to those sources, the debt-ridden company missed a payment on its debt this week and is seeking “debtor-in-possession financing” that would let the company continue operations once it went bankrupt.

Put a weaver classic k-4 scope on it. Fantastic shooting . Just shy of a 308 in eastern deer ranges, no recoil to speak of. Rifle is near 80 years old, quality of build blows anything new, except custom, off the shelf. And this was mass production then.
Collecting these older guns in days gone by calibers in good condition can be pricey but loads of fun.
Have a Model 94, 1898 date, 25-35 cal, in unbelievably good condition, see them listed at 2k and upwards....but that's a different story. . .

I’ll stick with my rifled barrel slug gun over a pistol caliber carbine. I can shoot a .50 cal sabot slug accurately to 150+ yards.
To each their own.
Yeah, but the 450 bushmaster is one of those covered pistol calibers and they are accurate at 250 yds or more.

especially their .22 ammo and ESPECIALLY Remington Peters .22 ammo.
I've always liked their shotgun STS and Nitro target loads.. Gun Club is OK but it is intentionally an inexpensive practice load.

I went with the 77/44 in SS before they started making the bushmaster. It’s a tack driver out to 150 yds and it has very little recoil!
You can shoot the 77/44 all day without getting beat up, and the 44 mag reloads are easy on the wallet. Something I couldn’t say for my super-duper 3” mag slug gun.

The last one is Ruger American in 450 bushmaster and camo.
A little more money but you can find them for about $550.00 or less.
They will flat stomp hogs or deer out to 300 yds!
They have healthy recoil but nothing compared to most slug guns.
All three will have no problem shooting 1 1/2” or less groups at 150 yds and beyond, and if you reload you can practice enough to be comfortable making 100 yd head shots.
If you tried one out at the range you’ll never go back to the slug gun.
yeah, the .22 is the only Remington ammo i ever had trouble with ...

Iowa has a new straight wall cartridge rule this year, 450 BM is on their list. I just really like bolt action rifles and have owned a number or Ruger firearms over the years...so I bought this one. I found a few things I liked: the bolt is a triple lug design; the muzzle brake is not anywhere near as ugly as it is in the picture; and this rifle has a great recoil pad on it; low eight even with a scope. This is the first Ruger rifle I have ever purchased that did not have rings with it...because it has a weaver/picatinny rail on it...I had rings. Put a Leupold Vari-X 2 3x9 on it and went to the range. With Hornady\’s 450 BM Black ammo I was shooting 1.5\” groups at 100 yards pretty easy and a few as small as an inch. Seems like I sighted in 1.5\” high at 100 and was around 7 inches low at 200 with a spread of 2.5-4 inches. The caliber will absolutely smack the heck out of a 10\” x 1\” gong at 200 yards with ease. The caliber does kick quite a bit, but it is more of a fast/hard push than anything else (make sure your scope has plenty of eye relief). Of course Bud\’s was great on everything. Don\’t forget to buy extra magazines (this only comes with one) and ammo while you are adding this rifle to your cart. I am happy with this rifle and would recommend it.”

I’m sure it didn’t help that the Army went to foreigners for their new pistols. Seems like that contract might have saved them.
Remington didn’t enter the competition as they had no suitable offerings. You kind of have to enter to win. Besides, they got an $80 million contract to build sniper rifles for the Army a couple years ago - Obama blood money to stay in New York.

I guess there are a lot of people determined not to go back to the 1911. Too big for most women’s hands.
Don’t forget running Marlin into the ground.
The spec required double action, high round capacity and a rail. Nothing Remington makes qualifies.
Too bad no one was there to tell Remington to get its act together and give the Army what they wanted.
