Leander ISD school assignment has students draw themselves as slaves

An Austin mother is upset that Four Points Middle School sent her daughter home this week with an assignment to “Draw a picture of yourself as a slave…” “This is a learning tool that is not acceptable under any circumstances,” stated Tonya Jennings. The assignment is in reference to discussions of “slave life in Texas in the 1850’s”, according to a picture of the assignment sent to CBS Austin by Jennings. Upon learning of the assignment, Jennings husband went to the school Friday to discuss the issue with administrators. A Leander ISD spokesperson sent a statement to CBS Austin Saturday night, explaining that the state “asks students to be able to identify points of view from the historical context surrounding an event and the frame of reference that influenced the participants.”.

These students can’t read and comprehend texts. They can’t do long division or computations with fractions. They can’t compose a narrative or descriptive paragraph.

But they’re to imagine themselves as slaves. How empathetic.

But wait! Isn’t it cultural appropriation or false victimhood or something for non-enslaved-persons to imagine they might have been slaves?

LOL! Thinking along the same lines. Draw myself as Boudicca on a chariot with a couple of big snorting rearing horses . . . .

I would suggest that they expect a student who is learning about, say, a slave revolt to be able to say something such as, “The slaves rebelled because they wanted to be free. The slaveholders suppressed the revolt because they had an economic interest in slavery.”

The girls should draw themselves as the Yellow Rose of Texas wearing only a thong. This is not Leander, 20mi away in an affluent near-Lake Travis in the city of Austin! Proof? You have to bring your own bags to that HEB.

How about drawing yourself as a white person in chains handing over your wealth to minorities?

Ancient astronaut believers say the Anunnaki, aka lizard people, aka ValJar, came to Earth and inserted their DNA into the humanoids who they used as slaves to mine gold.

Frankly, not politically, the majority of slave owners treated this property very well just like they would mules, horses, and machinery. Slaves were an expensive investment and anyone suggesting they were routinely beaten and mistreated is lying. Most Africans taken out of Africa, were actually far better off as slaves in America as were indentured servants. Even Ali famously stated “ I’m just glad my granddaddy got on that boat.

Whoopi Goldberg said much the same many years ago. She said she’d been to Africa and seen what a sh!thole it is and was glad she was here. Bet she’d never admit it on The View today.

My great grandmother said they were glad when the slaves were freed because they were too much work to take care of. Much like babies - not much has changed today with welfare. She also said most owners weren’t any better off and they all, owners and slaves, ate out of the same pot of beans day in and day out. When your life savings goes into a slave, you don’t beat him.

They sent that assignment HOME? LOL

That was a perfect opportunity to draw yourself in blackface, singing and whistling spirituals, zippity do da, with a bluebird on your shoulder. etc...

Maybe you could make the teacher pop a critical vessel!
