Sessions could still be conducting a house-cleaning at at DOJ and FBI without having recused himself, and without allowing Rosenstein to set in motion a soft-coup by appointing Mueller. That whole part to this soap opera was completely unnecessary. In fact, its a distraction that is slowing the whole discovery process.

Sessions is not the architect but is certainly at least the yard boss in the operation to induce the left to clean itself out.
