Deputies called to suspected shooter’s home 39 times over seven years
NY Post ^ | February 16, 2018 | Yaron Steinbuch

Before Nikolas Cruz carried out his mass killing at a Florida high school this week, police responded to his home 39 times over a seven-year period, according to disturbing new documents.

Details about the calls to the Broward County Sheriff’s Office — obtained from police records by CNN — were not immediately available and it was impossible to determine if all involved Cruz.

But the nature of the emergencies at his Parkland home included “mentally ill person,” “child/elderly abuse,” “domestic disturbance” and “missing person,” KTLA reported.

And a schoolmate, Brody Speno, told the network that cops were called to Cruz’s home “almost every other week.”

Absolutely agree. It’s unbelievable how badly this was handled.

But his mother died a few months ago...And he’s just a “sad child”.
Even Fox says so.

I just heard this morning how he was caught.

Do share. The last I heard was that he had been spotted by people who knew him, and they described him to the police. He had already ditched his gun/backpack, and was trying to blend in with the mass of students to effect his escape. Is there a different story?

I bet if that posting had threatened to shoot Obama they would have traced it and had a SWAT team knocking down the door within minutes.

Yes. He apparently had a sandwich at a Subway that I believe was in a Wal-Mart. As he was walking down the street a cop spotted him and, at first, just thought he was a teen walking down the street minding his own business but he just decided to check him out anyway.

And the rest is history.

If this is true, this really could have ended up with a big manhunt.

For any publicly managed space that is “gun free”, the same setup at courthouses should be required. If you are going to disarm people, you assume responsibility for their safety via this sort o thing or you are what courts call “negligent”.

Being an asset was the only way he could have gotten approval to purchase the ar15. News reports say it was legally purchased.
If LE was continually at this kids house for 7 years, how did he get approved for gun purchase.

I read somewhere that his adoptive father died when he was nine. The adoptive parents were fairly elderly to be raising young children and likely when the husband became ill and then passed the mother was quite distraught and the kid felt abandoned and alone

Regardless of the cause, though, young people exhibiting criminal mental illness need to be dealt with in some way before hurting others.

During any of these visits, did anyone bother to ask him about the Youtube post regarding his desire to be a professional school shooter?

Everything I needed to know about law enforcement I learned from watching shows on Fox.

The FBI really IS like the one shown in The X-Files
The local cops really ARE like the ones on The Simpsons.

Armed guards are needed.

Agreed

The Banks have security guards
The airport has security guards
The courthouse has security guards
The mall has security guards
The hospital has security guards

New guns laws needed? Really? How the cops/FBI quit worrying about a coup against the POTUS and protecting illegals?

Every company I’ve worked at has such a badge admittance system. Of course, that protects kids inside the building but leaves athletic fields unprotected. Club, athletes, cheerleaders, field trips — lots of opportunities for the insane outside the school building.

Wouldn’t help either as, if I heard\read this correctly, he pulled the fire alarm (self-herding) = fish in a barrel (alarm would also make shots harder to hear).

Least fields/etc. there’s the scatter option.

If law enforcement actually tried to confine a kid who seems as dangerous as this one did, the civil libertarians would be on it in a heartbeat. Chances are good the parents would be on their side.
