Sen. Chuck Grassley Folds Again: Open to Gun Control Discussion Post-Parkland Attack

Sen. Chuck Grassley (R-IA) announced Thursday he is willing to sit down and discuss gun control legislation with Sens. Dianne Feinstein (D-CA) and John Cornyn (R-TX). This is the second time in four months he has agreed to talk to about gun control proposals. On November 8, 2017, Breitbart News reported that he had agreed “to allow a Judiciary Committee hearing on bump stock gun control.”

Ironically, two of the key proponents of those hearings were Feinstein and Cornyn. Additionally, Feinstein had put forth a bill to ban bump stocks altogether.

Fast forward to February 2018 and CBS News reports that Grassley is again expressing willingness “sit down with Sens. Dianne Feinstein and John Cornyn” and talk about “what sort of agreement [they] can reach on legislation.”

Words, words and more words. Quit wasting time, energy and money on a subject that has been discussed forever. There are more than enough rules, regs and laws already to handle the problem.

Funny Grassley going after FBI and Dems on Russiagate he is a hero, now he is a Democrat. Said he is open to talk, fine, let them talk, doubtful we are going to see anything that both sides are going to agree on.

The side effects listed on the psychotropic drugs mass shooters were taking: "homicidal ideation, aggression, violence, mania and psychosis." Politicians won't ever mention it, the drug companies own them. https://www.cchrint.org/2017/10/10/another-mass-shooting-another-psychiatric-drug/ … #SchoolShootings

“Not even Obama and a Dem congress could pass a federal gun control law.”

They did in 1994 thanks to Rep. Henry “Dr. JeyklL” Hyde (R-illannoy).Seems we can’t trust any of them. But conversation away as long as we don’t give them zilch.

Time to contact Grassley, Ernst, and your rep, Iowans. Let them know that schools should not be gun-free zones, and that teachers and administrators should have concealed carry. No new anti-gun laws!!!

I think I heard on the news this morning that Grassley introduced or sponsored a bill to ban bump stocks... probably just to show how REASONABLE he can be (he’s not one of those GUN NUTS, ya know).

And I’ll just bet there are more than a few self-proclaimed “conservatives” and “2A supporters” right here in FR-land who think that’d be a dandy thing to do... “because NO ONE NEEDS a bump stock”.

I have a 2nd amendment friend who is willing to bend on 18 year olds buying AR15s. That opens the door for any other semi-auto weapon though.

Personally I think the whole concept of a bump stock is stupid. If you don't have full "rock & roll" they why fake it with a gimmick? I don't think the Florida event involved a bump stock but I'm not going to search the web to find out.

That's ridiculous on so many levels. Is your friend the "We MUST do SOMETHING!!!!!!" type? Or, is he the "See, I'm NOT a gun nut; I'm open to common-sense compromises!!!" type?

Personally I think the whole concept of a bump stock is stupid.

Personally, I think the right to keep and bear arms includes stupid arms and accessories. And I've seriously considered buying one just for fun.
