Feinstein to Introduce Bill Setting Minimum Age for Rifle Purchasers
Senator Dianne Feinstein (D-Calif.) ^ | Feb 16 2018 | Senator Dianne Feinstein (D-Calif.)

Brings rules for rifle sales in line with handguns, which already requires minimum 21 years of age

Washington—Senator Dianne Feinstein (D-Calif.) today announced she will introduce legislation to raise the age requirement for purchasing rifles from gun dealers, including assault weapons like the AR-15, to 21 years.

“Under current law, licensed gun dealers cannot sell a handgun to anyone under 21, but they are allowed to sell assault rifles like the AR-15 to anyone over 18. This policy is dangerous and makes absolutely no sense.

“I plan to introduce a bill to require all firearms purchases from gun dealers be restricted to individuals who are at least 21 years old. If you can’t buy a handgun or a bottle of beer, you shouldn’t be able to buy an AR-15.

“This is common sense and I hope my Republican colleagues will join me in this effort.”

She really thinks nobody should have a gun but she will start with 18-21.

I’d be much for in favor of a few changes in congress: term limits, IQ test, American history test, Constitution test, ethics test and a new law that doesn’t exempt confess from laws the rest of us are stuck with.

I think voting age should be raised to 30 since they’re taking so long to grow up nowadays. Most of them should be out of the damn university and thinking about life. They should carefully consider if they would like to immigrate to Pakistan or some place else if they hate it here so much.

She would have to change the US code on the definition of the militia. What do I know... they make shit up as they go along.

"Are we going to raise the minimum age to vote back up to 21 as well?"

I remember those days well.

More kids under 21 die in traffic collisons than guns. Lets ban driver licenses for anyone under 21.

Wouldn’t that be a state requirement not a federal one?

"She really thinks nobody should have a gun but she will start with 18-21."

Not "nobody". She thinks she should have a gun. She thinks taxpayers shouldn't have guns.

If we can't trust 18 year olds with AR15s (and .22 target rifles), alcohol and cigarettes, how can we possibly trust them with M4s, tanks, helicopters and voting?

Let's raise the age of military service and the voting age!

I’ve worked with sailors for 30 years. There are some 18 year olds who can be trusted with a nuclear power plant, there are others who cannot. The same goes for a firearm.

They are all part of a discipline structure in the military that does not exist in high school. Without that chain of command and accountability, the immaturity comes out.

No. Owning a firearm is a right, driving is not. The state can set licensing requirements to operate a car but not to own a firearm. What is this firearms license you speak of? It doesn’t exist in my state.
