Milwaukee native said enough is enough and turned his semi-automatic rife to Broward Co. Sheriff.

Something needs to change,' says Milwaukee native who turned in rifle to authorities

A Milwaukee native said enough is enough and turned his semi-automatic rifle into the Broward County Sheriff's Office.

Ben Dickmann grew up in Milwaukee, but moved to south Florida years ago. He shared a Facebook post of a sheriff's deputy taking possession of his AR-FiveSeven, which is similar to the AR-15 that was used in the high school shooting in Parkland, Florida.

Dickmann said only law enforcement should have guns that powerful.

"Something needs to change, and it needs to change now," Dickmann said. "People have been doing nothing but talking about it for the last 10-15 years."

As of Friday night, the post had more than 200,000 reactions, and 90,000 shares. He’s been getting a lot of feedback.

"I would say 90 percent has been very positive," Dickmann said. "Ten percent has been very, very negative. Almost threatening."

But one message sticks out to him and reaffirmed his decision.

"I even got a message from one of the parents at Stoneman Douglas privately on Facebook, thanking me for what I did. And that, that right there, meant the world to me," Dickmann said.

Instead of selling the gun, he turned it over to the Sheriff's Office so it can safely dispose of the rifle.

If he feels so strongly that he cant trust himself with a gun he needs to turn in his car or any motor vehicle, any sharp objects in his house and any potential poisons in his house. After all, he has proven that he is incapable of being around dangerous objects. It’s a cry for help, we need to lock him up for our collective good.

That's right; anyone who can't be trusted to be armed should not be running around loose. He must divest himself of all potential weapons and turn himself in for confinement.

That doesn’t look like any AR15 I’ve seen.

Broward County Sheriff: Thanks for the free gun!

Seriously... was he afraid he might go bezerk and shoot up a school in the future? What good has this done otherwise? Oh, right. It’s won him a gold medal in Virtue Signalling.

You should be very easy to spot:

5.7x28mm ammo. Yet another caliber to stock?

Good point. Perhaps I'll take it just to keep it safe, since this guy seems to think it will run off on its own and cause mayhem.

Kelly was on Fox News Sunday. I fast forwarded my DVR in between the Rush Limbaugh segments to avoid hearing him.

That was the moment I chose to go take my shower. Couldn't hear Kelly over the water pounding down on my head.

It is pretty expensive round, no generic manufacturers yet, just FN. An accurate ballistic bone shattering round used by the Secret Service in pistol platform. Also the choice of Maj. Hassan, the Ft. Hood shooter, The size of the round allows for a 20 round pistol magazine.

The AR57 has a top loading 50 round mag and ejects straight down through the standard magazine opening of the lower, great for lefties with no brass zinging across your face. An emptied out mag can be used to catch the brass if you want.

A lot of people mistakenly reverse the the importance of velocity over caliber.

AR-15 seems to be weapon of choice for most mass murderers, and is listed as one of top 10 assault rifles in USA.
A 1950’s weapon made the Army, it is known as the M16.

I am a VET, so take this elsewhere, here are some links for you...some things aren’t relevant as to how item islisted.

http://abcnews.go.com/US/ar-15-style-rifles-popular-mass-shooters/story?id=53111745

The AR-15 is listed in the 10 top assault rifles in USA...so take it up with the author of this article, or maybe mfg’er of the AR-15 aka M16:

Research FIRST might help your arguments.

An M-16 is an assault rifle capable of select fire.
An AR-15 is not.

Don’t give an inch. Contact your legislators, because the left is now pushing very hard against your Second Amendment right. Join the NRA. If you’ve already done that, join a state organization, too. Sending donations to pro-Second-Amendment organizations now will also be used to send a great message to Congress and assemblies of the states.

I am not arguing for or against the owning of an AR-15, just noting my opinion on why some children are not trustworthy around weapons.

I was right on saying assault rifles were NOT meant for hunting, and the 2nd amendment was clearly noted as something I support. So I do not get your point.

Here are two links I gave to other guy, who attacked me:

Being defensive on every point a person makes is Not going to change any one’s mind about 2nd Amendment, or their position on Assault Rifles. MY comment was to a specific person in a conversation re pics.

Have a nice day!

FOR ALL TO SEE:

Nr.1 M16 (USA)

The AR-15 was designed by Armalite to meet the US Army requirement for a new assault rifle, chambered for a new intermediate cartridge. It was adopted by the US Army as the M16 and became a standard issue infantry weapon.
This weapon was designed in the late 1950s. At the time it was a very progressive design. The US Army demanded for a super light weapon. So the M16 has a number of lightweight materials in order to save weight. It uses aluminum in place of steel, fiberglass construction in place of wood. Also it has an ergonomic design. It incorporated many features, never seen before. At the time of its introduction it was called the “Space Rifle”.
The barrel is in one line with the buttstock. This feature significantly reduces the recoil. It operates smoothly during fully automatic fire and is very easy to control. Consequently it is much more accurate during automatic fire than many other assault rifles. Its superior accuracy gives it a decisive advantage.
This superior weapon works great in battle, although it does have some faults. Newer models have a Picatinny-type rail and support various optics and detacheable accessories. It can be also fitted with underbarrel grenade launcher.
Since its introduction this assault rifle was constantly improved. This influential weapon was built in hundreds of variants. Approximately 8 million of these assault rifles were manufactures. The M16 and its derivatives are used by more than 70 countries around the world.
A lot of people like to compare the M16 vs AK-47. The M16 has 3 main advantages over AK-47, including range, accuracy and weight.

I’d love to know 1) if he bought it himself recently or 2) it was bought and transferred to him very recently for this publicity stunt

I thought you had no further comment.

The important part is here:
“Consequently it is much more accurate during automatic fire than many other assault rifles.”

Not capable of automatic fire, not an assault rifle.
