The last Democrat to serve 2 terms as a New Jersey governor was Brendan Byrne and he left the job in 1982.
The last time that the state had a fiscally conservative governor was 1944, the state spends way too much money. It's #1 for property taxes in the US and #3 overall for taxes -- which are now not deductible over $10K. The state is screwed and there is no way to stop the bleeding at this point. Not unless the state finds a way print money.
New Jersey is high on the short list of states for bankruptcy and receivership.
Better that Republicans be out of sight when the ship steams at full speed into the iceberg.
