Mexican Spanish is like English Ebonics.
In Spain, Mexicans speaking (mexican) would be considered BRAIN DAMAGED.

It's still Spanish, even if it's mangled. Much like with Ebonics, it's still English.

Anyway, whatever you want to call it, he seems quite skilled at speaking the language.
He should fit right in when he returns there.
